Head bolts and head gaskets. Let's see, you will need a lower and upper intake set as well. These head gaskets usually blew because bad fan relays caused the gaskets to blow and warped the heads. Ford used cheap oil pressure switches that leaked as well.
very involved procedure, did you even consider spending 10 bucks for a repair manual on CD over on eBay. i think you would be well advised to do that. i would also do a search for "Ford" and "head gasket" on www.youtube.com, there are so many car repair videos over there it boggles the mind.
Dear Failed Head Gasket..... The answer to your question is YES!!! These auto repair manuals are sold at your local autoparts stores$25-$30 and they are Haynes and Chilton's manuals. They are all application specific and make it a much easier repair for the first timer auto tech. They include detailed instructions and also have torque specs and electronic and mechanical specs.P.S......When you do the head gasket it IS BEST to do both sides!!! So congrats!!! Sounds like you're ready for this!!!Any more questions get back to me...HOPE I COULD HELP!!!
If you do not want to buy a manual (and if you do buy one, i recommend Haynes), you can get a free one by logging on to autozone.com and registering. Add your car to your garage and they let you use online manuals similar to a Haynes' or Chilton's with diagrams. i cannot say for certain how good it will be, though, as i have had some good and some not as good experiences with their manuals. But, hey, for free? It is at least worth a look.
