Look for some electrical or fuel related heat affected problem ... Something stops working when the car gets to operating temperature. Beyond that, I can't be more specific, Tony. Good luck ... When you find it ... post your answer please.

I've herd this from 3 other people now Tony :( ? I have a 1983 Dodge ramcharger, I have let it run till it shuts off several times to see what is HOT after it dies out and still have not figured this one out? Nothing feels that hot? Obviously, :/ I too have replaced the norm that would cause this shutting off after 15 minutes or so of running? I have replaced fuel pump TWICE!,fuel filter TWICE,ignition coil, pick up coil, rotor, cap, wires, plugs, dimmer switch, carb rebuild kit,Voltage regulator,Ignition control modulator,Balaster resister, oil change with oil filter, radiator flush. The ramcharger STILL IS SHUTTING OFF after 15-20 minutes :( so,so very frustrating I'm stumped and have my mechanical self and other mechanics stumped as well? So today I'am online to find a diagram of some kind to figure out what hose or wire is causing this issue or what the heck it could be?I work on Honda's unfortunately, my Honda is in the process of engine rebuilding so now I'm out with no vehicle.:( I do know of a certain hose or wire getting too hot would cause the engine to shut off ( a safety feature I guess??) ,but which hose or wire is where I'am confused with??? Another thing that is leaning me towards electrical wiring error is the fact the gas gauge does not work all the others DO?,but in a 1983 ramharger , I assumed it was the float ...or now possible wire issue? Are the two a sign that it is indeed faulty wiring as to why it wont stay running past 15-20 minutes or is it this hose or wire that is becoming to hot and shutting off the ramcharger the issue here??? If so How do i go about this and figure it out?All help is needed please as this is becoming overly annoying :( having no running wheels really is the pits! Thanks Toni

UPDATE! to those out their with same issue..VAPOUR LOCKING;if u have a plastic fuel filter too close to the heat and your truck dies out and if you see bubbles in your plastic inline fuel filter then u r vapor locking get a metal fuel filter move it away from any heat. another way remove too find out is to take of gas cap, start truk if it dies out u r still vapor locking! So I'm going to try and rule this one out.

How to adjust the idle speed on 1992 Dodge Ramcharger?

Its not really adjustable.
The computer controls idle speed via the idle air control valve.
You probably have a vac leak.

1989 Dodge Ramcharger Engine problems, maybe, now when you crank it in the morning it will only stay cranked for about 2 minutes and kills out, then maybe 15 mins later it will start and go down the road...

If you verify that you have fire, fuel and air to the engine and they are ok then I would check the catalytic converter and the muffler to ensure one of them is not plugged. If the cat gets blocked off then it won't allow fuel into the cyl due to back pressure on the engine.

I would guess a bad spark plug wire. Moist air will provide a path for the spark to jump to ground from a bad plug wire. You could test with a windex bottle filled with water and spray the engine in different spots. Also check for moisture under the distibutor cap.

1992 Dodge 250 van, 318, Automatic - Dies when coming to a stop

I cannot see how adding a fuel additive would help to be honest. I would be looking for a split or leaking vacuum line, I have even seen a leaking evap canister before that caused a similar problem. Does the engine pull clean and strong when it is warm or at cruising speeds? Does it feel like its running lean or misfiring?
