You will need to remove the radio and post the make of radio and the chassis number of the radio so i can generate a code ,or go back to dealer for original providing that someone hasnt changed the pre programmed number to their birth date or something ,also look in boot as sometimes you will find a sticker with the code on in the boot under the floor mat -

sounds like your main fuse or fuse link has blown---something directing your power from the bat to system has been compromised---you'll need to systematically check your wiring including (most important) your grounds---you may have a wire that has corroded internally breaking the connection-GL

I have a 1997 ford laser liata which lost its radio code when battery was replaced,i have the code but dont know how to reset, radio is flashing error at the moment.

I am not really sure on older models, but. Hold down the #1 and #4 buttons at the same time, for 5 to 10 seconds. This should get you to the spot or a menu to enter your code.

My 2006 vw jetta tdi lost power and died wont restart am told need code to restart but dont have right code

You will have to have the fault codes read by a code reading machine . That will tell you why the engine stopped. I am suggesting that you check to see if the cam shaft is turning when you try to start it as the timing belt may be broken. Repair/replace items listed by the codes -reset the CPU with the code reader

Traction control lights are on

if you dont mind loosing radio codes, etc.
battery neg , resets it all , and they owners cry./.....

the dealer has a special too to reset it, no collateral damage.
open glove box, extract the oper guide. search for word
CODE, all those will be lost, at battery net lug pull.
so get all the codes first.
write them down, so when the battery dies, you dont need to beg for codes no one can give ,cept the dealer.

Radio code

bad news. you didn't read the operators guide in the glove box.
it says , dont pull battery or run it dead or the radio codes are lost.
it says, get the radio code first day you get car.
when the car was new, in the gove box was also a code card.
if all that is lost?
you must take the radio serial number to the dealer ....
it says that too.
the operators guide is free,

Key codes

you should have a 4 digit or 7 digit s.k.c code if you have lost that code you will have to take the car to a dealer they will plug your car in and it will connedct to vw computer (geko) that will give them the code for your keys and away you go i could code a new key fot you but would need the code to do that--good luck vw dont know there is a credit crunch so take your wallet!!!
