Question about Honda Pilot

Open Question

I'm working on a 2003 Honda Pilot, and the SRS light was on. I have previous experience in Honda, and I know that the seat belt buckles are 99.9% of the cause. But after replacing the drivers seat belt buckle, for the 09-3 code, and clearing the SRS light, the light still comes back on. Only it's giving me an 07-3 code now for the SRS control unit. I just replaced the faulty battery also, and tried to clear the code again, but the SRS light came right back on after starting. Could this be a coinceadence, or does that normally happen?

SOURCE: Seat belt problem

In my past experience with wiring in a car and seat belt lights I have found that most every newer vehicle will have a single negative lead wire running to some sort of switch in the seat belt locking mechanism. When the male end of the belt is placed into the female lock the switch will be depressed and grounded to complete a circut then turn off the light. If any switch is damaged and does not complete the circut then the light will not turn off. This may be the problem but it could also be a simple computer glitch in your vehicle. Another problem could also just be a blown fuse that triggers the light to come on as a precaution. A call to your local auto parts store may be able to help you more. I am just a self learning mechanic and not very computer savy.

SOURCE: airbag light on

Most dealerships or garages with decent scan tools can find an air bag code if the light is on. The light might not turn itself off even when fixed and would have to be cleared. Also I've seen lights come on if someone has a large audio system installed and is drawing to much power. That is usually just a low voltage code with the system though.

SOURCE: Seat belt buckle receiver will

If it's not a coin, look inside the buckle again, compare it with a properly working latch. If you see something inside the broken latch that looks like it may be protruding out from the back, try pushing it back with a flathead or key, then pop the push button back up with the same tool you used... I have to do this each time I get out of my truck because the spring is broken. It still should work fine, it's just missing a spring that reset the latch to it's resting position. If you're still skeptical about it though, it's like a 25 dollar fix with installation.

Srs light is on but everything is working..

Known problem for SRS light might be cause by bad seat belt buckle. Honda seat belt buckle and belts are lifetime warranty(not cover if broken because of abuse). Have your honda dealer scan it for code. They might charge you $55 to scan for the code(ex:09-3 driver seat buckle failure), but if it is a for buckle or belt code then everything is free including the scan(labor and part).
good luck

I have a 2004 honda pilot. My SRS light came on yesterday and it stayed on. I have it checked out. They reset it but on the way home from work tonight it came back on. Could you tell me what might be...

These pilot are known to have bad driver front seat belt buckle problem. The code for it is 09-3, if it is a buckle or belt code failure. Honda repair it for free (parts and labor). Have your honda dealer scan it for code. They might tell you $55 to start with scan, but if it is a belt or bucke code then they can't charge you the scan fee anymore because it cover under lifetime warranty(only cover if not abuse).

you need a scanner to pull the code. its prob a seat belt buckle. seat belts and all buckles are under a lifetime warr at all honda dealers. take it to a honda dealer to have the code checked out. if its a 9-3 or 9-4 or any seat belt, or seat belt buckle, the repair will be free.

SRS dash light has come on and stay on, what does it mean?cheers

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat
(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.

I DO NOT recommend disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s).

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

Srs airbag light is on on my 99 pontiac grand prix

If the seat belt light comes on intermittently with the belt buckled, it may have a bad switch in the buckle or a loose connection @ the switch. This may also set a diagnostic trouble code in the srs control module & keep the srs airbag light on.

The SRS light stay on

SRS stands for supplemental restraint system. You have a problem with the airbag system. The seat belts have sensors to let air bag module know if they are buckled. Could be a bad buckle seat belt will work fine .This may be a common problem is why they said seatbelt problem
