Brake fluid appears to be low. The only resevior cap is a small cap covered by a rubber cover. Appears there are threads on the outside of the small plastic piece? Then there is only a small, pin hole size opening in resevior itself. How do you ad brake fluid?

Hi: I own a 1994 Honda Accord LX. The piece you refer to is only the upper cap. That portion is basically a breather area and the tiny hole is a breather hole.

To remove the cap to add fluid is easy. The larger gray colored cap below the small one you referred to is the one you want to remove. The smaller one will stay on top of the larger cap.

You'll want to turn the lid to the left about an inch or so. It does not screw off like a threaded cap, but instead turns only an inch or so, then lift straight up. There are multiple little hooks on the under side of the cap and rails on the cup where they basically twist and lock into place.

It's pretty easy. Give it a try. It should come off.

Adding Brake Fluid

That little plug keeps the fluid from splashing up and running out of the cylinder. Just pour the fluid on top of the rubber cover and the height of the plug indicates the level of the fluid.

2000 jeep grand ckee push on brake pedal and hissing noise gets loud release pedal and it gets quiter pedal does not get hard to push down but if held will slowly sink to floor

could be one of several problems. first check your brake fluid level, if its low then add some and before you replace the cover try and reset the rubber end back up into itself. if one of the chambers is empty then you'll need to fill it back up and bleed the brakes. if after you refill the resevior and it keeps happening you will need to check the lines for a leak. if the brake fluid is good then you might have a problem with the vacuum assist and you'll want to take it to a mechanic.

How do you check the clutch fluid on 1991 Jeep Wrangler?

There should be a small master cylinder for the clutch right next to the brake master cylinder, mounted more towards the fender. Remove the top cover and look inside. Regular brake fluid is used in the clutch system. If it's low, likely you have a leak so check where the rod goes through the firewall under the dash, the line itself and the slave cylinder (some are outside the bellhousing, others are inside and fluid will leak from the bottom of it.

Clutch needs bled

clutch and brake fluid should be change every couple of years, Since the fluid does attract moisture, and degrade the efficiency of the brake and clutch action.

Where is the brake fluid cap and line located?

Hi,

The "brake fluid cap" is the rubber cover of the brake fluid reservoir on top of the brake master. It would look like the black cover of the image below.

The brake line would be the two tubings from the master brake cylinder, one to the front, the other for the rear.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
