Hello, Can you help me? I have a 1993 Chevy Lumina that is overheating when I stop ex. long traffic lights, letting it run while I go to the mac machine etc... once I start driving again its fine. Can you...

Sounds like the cooling fan is not coming on .. could be a bad fan motor or relay .. If you can check it yourself you can try to power the fan up directly and see if that is the problem.

Where is the thermostat cant find a repair manual for 97 Sportage ..need to know where the thermostat is located

just follow the top radiator hose toward the engine. that metal housing that the radiator hose hooks up to has the thermistat under it take off the two bolts and change out thermistat.refill with coolant then run for about a half hour to warm up enough to open thermistat, then top off with coolant at the radiator cap.leave cap loose during this operation so that no pressure will build up in radiator.if unsure squeeze upper rad. hose it should easilly compress if stiff pressure has built up so dont open the cap. let cool then top up coolant

Car runs hot after repairing, water pump, themostat, water outlet, coolant flush. What else can cause the thermostat gauge to move?

[1] plugged radiator core. replace radiator, not cleanable
[2] a bunch of dead bugs stuck on air conditioner condenser in front of radiator. open hood and look at front of it if a bunch of debris blast it off with water hose
[3] the air not properly bled from the engine cooling system. some have a bleeder screw that must be opened while engine running untill all air is let out if i dont have a screw for bleeding then you have to let engine run long enough to open thermistat i may take a while when radiator tank feels hot then thermistat is open. coolant level should have dropped top off and put cap on
[4] electric cooling fan not working

I broke one of the bolts to the thermistat housing, tried to drill it out and screw out with an extractor, but unsuccessful, any ideas? What is the larger part that the thermistat housing bolts on to, I...

True using extractors is sometimes more complicated than bringning it to the machine shop, but the most logical since there is no drill press at hand. But you do not need to retap, just tell the machinist to remove the bolt and use an insert with inside and outside thread already so the casing will not be damage.

1985 Volvo 244 Air Conditiong Blows fuse when turned on. Can't find wiring diagram for this section to check wiring. Any solutions to this problem?

You say blows fuse,
Are you talking about the Blower Fan, or the Thermistat for the Compressor.
If it is the Blower Fan It may be seized as the Blower Fan motor doesn't have bearings it has a bronze bush & may be stuck. I had this fault on my 76 244DL.
I had to dismantle the whole dash pull the Blower Fan apart re grease the bush & give it a clean & re assemble. It took me allll day to pull the dash apart fix the Blower Fan motor & reasemble It works perfect now like new.

If it is the Thermistat disconnct the wire to the compressor & try a jumper wire to the compressor to see if the compressor operates. if ok it could be a damaged wire through the firewall shorting somewhere. You will have to buzz out the wires from thermistat down to the compressor & the throttle up solonoid.
