Question about 2003 Subaru Impreza
My car has sometimes blown some smoke after idleing for a while. only lasts for a few seconds then clears up. there is no loss of power. have had the car checked by subaru and they don't know what it is. yesterday the car started to blow smoke when idleing but stops when driven. the longer it idles the thicker the smoke. could it be the turbo?
Most likely the turbo, if its a darker or bluish smoke.

Are you sure it is smoke and not steam? Steam dissipates quickly, oil buring smoke is often bluish in color and tends to hang around in the air a while. Steaming could come from a bad head gasket or a cracked head. Oil buring smoke could come from leaky valve stem seals or worn oil control rings.
