Question about 1991 Peugeot 405

1 Answer

My 405 diesel was running fine then I changed the battery to swop.\r\nThe newer battery which was running ok in another similar car was connected up in the 405 but the car is dead, no power to anything. Not a flicker. No spark when you connect the terminal. Checked little fuses underdash all ok. It seems a major electrical relay has just tripped off. Help ........

No you have forgotten to re connect a lead on the positive terminal ,i think their are three cables ,one big thick one and two smaller ones that supply power to the fuse supply under the bonnet

Can you swap out altanators from a gas motor to a diesel motor

Probably not. Current ratings for diesels are usually much higher, and it is rare that the mounting points on the alternators would match up, much less the pulley alignment. Even the electrical connectors are likely to vary.

Hi i have a peugeot 405 diesel and the speedo

I had a similar problem with my old peugeot 405 diesel, something electrical was shorting and actually sparking in the engine compartment which in my case the garage fixed very easily. Same symptoms, the speedo flickered at low speeds but stopped at higher speed.

Heater matrix has gone on my 405 diesel bypassed it

sounds like your inner cooler is leaking and is causing an air lock within your coolant system. Sorry to hear this, changing this part is time consuming. Hope this helps you.
