I1995 audi a6 quattro ignition switch does not return automatically to start position - i have to manually turn the key back 1/4 turn. can this be fixed, lubed or something?

Some can be repaired the first thing is to try a little wd40 in the key hole and work key in ignition, the spring back action is done by the switch not the ignition cylinder locjk, but if the lock binds up it will cause it not to return, so start with the lube, after a few days if it still doesnt return then remove covers and replace the switch on the back of key switch. hope this helps, most of the time the lube works.

The transmission will not shift without pushing in the shift lock key everytime anyway to fix it easily and cheap

check the shift interlock switch. it should be right beside the brake light switch or possibly integrated in with it

I have a 99 siverado 2500, the odometer/gear select only works sometimes.... also the service 4x4 light comes on... 4wd doesnt engage all the time. Any suggestions?

You need to replace the ignition switch in the steering columb, not the key switch but the actual ignition switch[it hs many wires going to it and to the key switch.

Shifter problem ?

Sounds like the ignition switch. It is most likely a column issue.
