SOURCE: 1991 mazda b2200- timing belt changed

The keyway and or the dot on the crank should be line at 12 oclock. You will see a point on the oil pump housing to go by. On the camshaft the pointer will be at 12 oclock also. Use the O on the camshaft to the top at mark. Be sure to look at the dist. roter to make sure that it is pointing at the #1 spark plug wire. I could get 180 out of time. If you do it right it should start up right away. then you can use a timing light to finish it.
Good Luck

Where does the long (30 inch) vacuum hose from the Air cleaner hook on?

You should be able to hear a sucking sound from where the line is supposed to go. Probably on the base of the carby. You can spray a little aero start around where you think the leak might be ie: carby. the aero start will be sucked into the open vacume port & the revs of the motor will change. Sorry I don't know exactly where it goes.

Hard brake pedal

Sounds like power brake problems. First thing to check (engine idling) is the vacuum hose connection at the large donut-like cylinder behind the brake master cylinder--does it have good vacuum when the hose is removed. If not, chase the hose to the other end which should be plugged into intake manifold vacuum port--remove the hose and check for vacuum at the port. If ok, the hose may be plugged. If you tested good vacuum at the cylinder, then the power cylinder itself may need to be replaced. You may be able to replace the cylinder without disconnecting the brake lines--pull the master cylinder bolts, then remove the power cylinder bolts from the inside of the firewall. Hope this helps!

Timing mark on crank pulley jumps abruptly about

Try plugging the vacuum advance hose itself to test the timing. Is the white Mark located where it should be? The Yellow is your advanced timing mark and should be also also be aligned with the pointer.
