Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix

Air conditioning/head lights

I have 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. Usually when I start the car, the automatic headlights come on. Now, the headlights don't automatically come on and my A/C does not blow any air, hot or cold. Any suggestions to the problem?

Dude what the hell - THANK YOU.
The center "Driver Information Center"(shows the MPG, Oil Life, Fuel Used, ETC) doesn't work, the ac/heat/vent doesn't blow (you can feel the hot or cold air come out of the vents gently but no force whatsoever)...
The automatic headlights go off when this happens.

I checked ALL of my fuses- all good.....
During the summer I thought it was my A/C shorting something out but it does the same with heat................

SOMEBODY PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE.

The same problem here with my 2002 GT! however automatic lights and vents can come back by themselves after driving for some time say 5, 10 or ever more minutes, kind of intermitent or 'delay'?

this "delay" also effect my rear window defrose button.

checked the fuses which look good.

please anybody has an idea is appreciated.

It is your ignition switch. Pontiac runs too much current through the switch for it to last very long. look on grandprix specific auto forums for an in depth look at this problem.

There is a fuse that covers all of these and the rear defroster. It is the DIC/HVAC fuse, it is right next to the DRL fuse in the glovebox. It's a 10 amp fuse.
To test if this is the solution, take out the old 10 amp fuse, and replace it with another one (don't use the DRL fuse, it will cause your lights to flash like crazy, and make a really annoying clicking noise)

2002 pontiac grand prix gt. High beams are dimmer

A loose ground wire to the headlight will keep it dim,Or a headlight adjustment will bring the headlight up.If you can have your headlight turned on a garage door or something at night, and then watch as you change your headlights from low beam to high beam which ones are higher.the last thing to verify is that your high beam headlights are not the plastic lens type that turn dull which cuts the light power.

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT multifunction switch problem?

I had the exact same problem, I changed the "ignition switch" because the contacts inside were burned, this is why you see all those troubles coming in and out at different moments. It costed me 150$ to do it myself, buy the switch on an online reseller, must cheaper than the dealer! Now everything is back to normal on my Grand Prix GT 99 exept that my headlights don't light up automatically when starting the car... I have to check my fuse/relay and switch to make sure everything is ok on that side.

Good luck.
