Hi

The clutch is electromagnetic, and therefor if it isn't working then the first things to check would be the fuse, relay, and switch before you condemn the compressor/clutch.

If the clutch is clicking or chattering then it could simply be that the aircon needs regassing.

If there is any red or black dust on or around the compressor then it could be the clutch slipping.

If you are absolutely sure the clutch is slipping then you will need to hire or buy an air con clutch puller tool to pull the clutch from the compressor.

It would have been a better idea to post your comment before you rated my answer because you didn't actually say it was sqealing, and as you can see, I would have had an answer had you said it was squealing.

If you could see your way to arranging for the rating to be removed and then re-rate my response to your further comment it would be greatly appreciated because your initial rating had a detrimental affect on my percentage.

    Regards once again

No air coming from air conditioning vents

Need to remove clutch from air conditioner compressor

You are better off replacing the whole compressor.
The special tools required, and the risk of possible
damage to the compressor, along with the extra labor
involved, make a used or rebuilt unit the way to go.
This is how most repair shops resolve a bad a/c clutch problem. Hope I was helpful.

Belt squeel caused by air coditioner cluch bearing how to change the cluch bearing and pullers/tools needed

I take it you have tried a new belt. The Air-conditioner belt driven clutch and bearing repair will cost you nearly as much as a re-conditoned unit. The time, effort and agony is just not worth the trouble of going through any clutch / bearing replacement attempt. (been there done that! And had the right tools!) Ended up replacing the compressor anyway as the internal rollers of the Compressor were the actual problem.

How do you remove the Air conditioner clutch from a 1997 chevy

Replace the whole compressor. If you don't have the proper tools to replace the clutch with, you will never get it out. The compressors are bad for the front seals leaking on those, and would be best to replace the whole thing.
