Please help i have a 1989 honda civic dx manual tranny. For a while the car ran great until one night it stalled and i checked the oil and it was out and i filled it all the way up and started fine and got...

if the motor oil was out I'm afraid the engine was damaged and some bearings of it make now noise and other problems.
then you need to look for a replacement motor from a junkyard or eBay....as rebuilding the engine might be too expensive... 24results for 1989 Honda Civic

When starting out from a stop, the car (cvt) shudders for a second or two while the car is accelerating. Is there any friction modifiers that can be added to the trans fluid other than Honda's $15/quart...

it sounds like you have worn engine or transmission mounts. if it was friction from the transmission it would happen anytime you accelerate, not just from a stop. place rubber or wood stops in front and behind the front wheels, pull the e-brake. now have someone hold the brake pedal and start the car. have them put the car in gear and rev the engine, making sure the car doesnt move. while revving the engine, look at the position of the engine and how much it shifts around from its initial position. excessive movement of the engine indicates a worn or loose mount. this will also affect acceleration from a stop. what you are experiencing is the weight of the car catching up with movement of the engine. once they come together, the shuddering stops.

Where is the fuel pump located on my 1989 honda civic gl?

If ur car is CARBURETED, follow the fuel line from the carburetor to the pump, usually a mechanical fuel pump would be in the side of the engine block.

If ur car is fuel injected, the pump is in ur FUEL TANK!
Hope that helps u out!

Clutch shudders out of first gear

This can be an warped flywheel, oil on the clutch surface, weak pressure plate, or the clutch is simply worn out. I would take it back to your Honda dealer and see if they will repair this under a curtorsey extended warranty. You never know until you ask.

It sounds like the plant and sun gears are starting to wear that could be your problem. An transmission expert will probably have to look at the trany.
