Question about 2008 Dodge Caliber

Open Question

I have a 2010 Dodge Caliber with climate control and remote start If you set the fan on high and the dial to defrost to clean the windows for the next morning and leave. In the morning when you use the remote start that comes with the car it will start the car but will not turn on the settings you have set the day before. It will only put the fan on low and blow some air on the floor and little on the window (not enough to move a candle flame). Dodge says this is normal the car will heat up after 10 to 15 min. The problem is the remote start will turn off after 15 min. When you get into the car after using the remote start, the only way to get the fan and the other climate controls is to turn one of the knobs and then everything works. The question I ask is what is the point of having a remote start if it dose not cool down or heat up the inside the car before you get in. Dodge and the dealer is no help to me, so is there anyone out there that has been using this remote start and is there a issue or a solution. Kind regards, Ron

SOURCE: Blower

the problem is probably a bad switch and you could pick one up at your local junk yard or if that is not you fancy you could go to your local dealership. It should be only held in by four screws and two plugs in back.

SOURCE: heating / air conditioning control stuck to front defrost vents

There is a vacuum leak under the hood. Find the vacuum line on the passenger side where it comes through the firewall and follow it to the engine. You system needs vacuum to operate and without it the default setting is on defrost for safety reasons.

Have a 2009 Nissan Quest I can't turn the heat off. Just stays on a high level of blowing out heat .

If you have a fan that has different speed settings (1234, or low med high etc) and the only one that works is high - then the blower resistor pack has failed. If you have a climate control unit (where you just pick a temp you want) then the fan is controlled by the heating system and it sets fan speed. If you have climate control style try lowering the temp to a lower setting (current temp in vehicle) and see if fan slows down. If not then climate control unit or fan resistor bad. If dial type and you get nothing on lower settings (only high works like mentioned above) you need to change blower resistor. It is located under dash near the fan itself. Look for small unit bolted in duct near fan with wire plug going to it.

There's a fuse that controls the instrument panel. Don't know the location it should be in owners manual.

Most likely, because you saw smoke, a wire got cooked off the switch connection. This nay have burned out the resistor also.

Fan control knob on a/c and heater will only run on high speed. 2003 dodge mini van

I replaced the fan module under the glovebox on my 2005 Town & Country last night. Mine would not shut off at all with key on. It only blew on high no matter where I set the switch. Mine also had the climate control which makes a difference. If it is not the auto climate control it is usually the blower resistor if the other fan speed selections don't blow at all except on high.

if it was a vacuum leak it would not do it intermittently, first you should replace your blower motor resistor to correct the only working on high fan speed and the reevaluate the a/c it could be affecting the climate control

Check the relais module located inside under the rh side of the heather box you can see the connector most of them need to be replaced as they burn out you may need to replace the blower motor as well, high amp draw caused by faulty bearings will overload the blower motor controller
