2001Chevy cavalier just change thermosta and nnow

First off are you sure you installed the thermostat right side out ? It is easy to install backwards . Second is make sure you filled your cooling system up completely . I usually fill the system and run with cap off for about ten minutes and add coolant as needed till it stays full .

I have a broken bolt (passenger side) on the thermostat housing and need to replace the thermostat. I've tried drilling out the bolt and extracting it with an easy out but no luck. Th remaining bolt kept...

there is a new kind of easy out .. the old left hand spiral design doesnt work somtimes .. the new one is much better (more of a straight rib) ... use penitrating oil a few hours before attempting to remove ..

in an emergency you can use "liquid gasket" you can get that at any auto parts store (use non perminant version) .. apply that to both sides of the gasket .. make it thick enough to fill the gap ..bolt down snug let cure before use .. ... but the loss of one bolt will eventually crack the boss on the remaining side .. so its a good idea to fix the problem .. you can usually get the old bolt out with the new easy out but if you cant . then just drill a hole thru the broken bolt and use a tap to make new threads for a smaller size bolt with washer ... make sure the new bolt doesnt bottom out ...

Changing the alternator on 1999 miata

The alternator is held on by two bolts. The top bolt is part of the tensioner, which uses, thankfully, an old style bolt system to tension a separate alternator belt. Once you remove the top bolt the tensioner can be removed by sliding it towards the rear of the car through the slot it sits in. The bottom bolt has fallen prey to what I consider an engineering oversite. The bolt threads out towards the back of the engine, and because of this, you have to remove the stiffening arm that sits right behind this bolt. Fortunately, the stiffening arm is held on by three bolts, all of which are easy to get to. Once this arm is out of the way you can remove the bottom bolt.

I just went thru this on mine... it is easiest to get to from the bottom right corner... remove the shields and it's right there... take the lower adjustment bolt out , the upper rear bolt and the upper outer bolt out , drop it down and swap wires and replace . Tip; a shorty phillips screw driver works well to allign the holes on the upper rear bolt. DO NOT tighten any of the bolts untill they are all in.
