Question about 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Open Question

My 2009 impala service traction control light continues to come on which initiates the engine light to come on and says " Engine Power Reduced. I had this service earlier this year at the delearship and thought it had been corrected. When i hooked up the obdII it read a code 2187 TPS, and the dealer replaced the throttle body already. The chech engine light never comes on by itself, only when the traction control service light comes on. This problem is very annoying and i look forward to getting it resolved !

Start with testing the ABS system. Sounds like a wheel sensor is giving out bad signals. The vehicle is no longer under warranty?

Have the codes checked. But you probably lost one of the wheel sensors. This will pop the light. When the ECM detects a wheel not move as fast as the others, it sets the light.

SOURCE: 2009 Chevy Malibu - Random

Hello
Anytime this happens the computer that controls the systems of the car sets a fault code in memory, what are the codes you are getting? without that information it is impossible to even guess the problem. Another issue is this, did the dealer confirm the problem? Another point is that if you attempt any repairs you will void the warranty, and trust me they will do it. What would this 35 year dealer tech advise? Contact the dealer and request a GM factory service engineer get involved in the repair, then you WILL get the problem resolved. You can also call GM, the number is in the owners manual.

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

On my 2009 impala ls engine power is reduced keeps showing on the dash screen, as does service traction control. the car is running rough and has no power when this occurs.

You need to have the engine and body computers scanned for trouble codes to point you in the direction of diagnosing the problems.

Traction control light on and engine power reduced

you could have a stuck switch .....check your traction control switch on your dashboard....engage and disengage it , while paying attention to the rpms...notice any change...if you do notice a change, then replace the switch....if no change, it is probably on the trans itself and should not be a dealer only fix....your local reliable trans shop should be able to fix you up without emptying your entire wallet.

Service Throttle Control

It sounds like these things are all related. When the a computer sees a problem in the Electronic throttle system, it will dissable traction control, and give the reduced engine power alert because the powertrain computer does not know the value of throttle postion.
Codes will need to be scanned in the computersto begin diagnosis.
