Question about 2003 Mazda Mazda6

1 Answer

Have a 2003 mazda 6s 3.0 check engine light came on took it to mechanic code said it needed fresh air intake hose, got it installed and only 1hour later light came back on, mechanic checked it again now it needs 02 sensor, got that and a couple hours later light came back on brought it to another mechanic code said it needed some valve i dont remember exactly went to get it at autozone and had them run it and it came up with a completely different code from the previous one so now I decided to to do my own little experiment and went around to different autozone's and different mechanics and sure enough its never the same code from place to place but one thing is consistent anything that comes up has something to do with exhaust. Is this a common problem with the 2003 Mazda 6s 3.0 and what is the fix, need the check engine light off without buying parts I dont need and need to pass emissions help

the problem is every time the engine light comes on it shows a different code so ill go get you the code it's showing now but if its tested lets say an hour later it normally shows a completely different code so the problem is it's throwing up false codes do you know what could cause it to do that.

Excessive pressure in the crankcase of a mazda 2005 6

Have you checked the hose from the valve cover to the air cleaner ?
The PCV valve pulls air from the crankcase into the intake, but the crankcase has to get fresh air from the air cleaner too.
If the crankcase is getting extra pressure from the cylinders you should have a check engine light and trouble codes.

Check engine light flashes and car sputters

my MPV has this symptom. in my case it is a hole in the breather hose which is on the back of intake manifold. my mechanic friend helped me diagnose this. codes came up as problems with O2 sensors because of the extra air getting into intake. when we opened the hood with van running we could hear the leak right away. this was causing engine to run very rich... currently looking for part... hope this helps

My daughter has a 2003 Escort ZX2 and check engine light keeps coming on. Mechanic said it is "running lean" so they did all maintenance including new air filter. Light went off for about a...

99% of 'lean' codes P0171, P0174 are caused by a vacumm leak. Check the integrity of the hoses and piping between the intake plenum and the air filter housing. Check the condition of the PCV hose. Check all the little vacumm lines on the intake manifold/plenum for leaks, collapse, oil contamination, and cracks.

Any savvy mechanic should be able to inject UV smoke into the system and find the problem in a matter of minutes.

My 2002 Mazda MPV recently developed an engine shake when stop at intersection or driving 45mph or slower. My mechanic scanned and found OS2 code, vacuum leak, replaced the intake hose, reset engine...

You might try another mechanic if this one can't get it fixed. Shaking is usually caused by one or more cylinders mis-firing for whatever reason--usually faulty ignition or fuel injection. Has the engine had recent tune-up? Bad spark plugs/plug wiring are frequent villains. Not sure what an 'OS2' code is. Hope this helps!

For 2003 Mazda Protege ES model 2.0L 4cyl engine; engine running rough and ''shaking at idle'' when stopped on road for traffic light for example. Also becomming hard to start. Someone mentioned a ''cold...

Check the air inlet boot going from the air filter to the intake for rips or holes. If rips exist, this would allow air to bypass the filter and mass air flow sensor and will lead to a check engine light appearing. The code would read "too lean, bank 1." If this problem is allowed to continue for long periods of time, the EGR ports will have to be cleaned out and maybe even the intake.

Air intake tube?

This sounds silly but try using a piece of garden hose (or any other hose) held to your ear, using the free end as a probe. You will be able to pinpoint the source of the hissing noise and see what needs to be fixed.

2005 Mazda 3 idles rough at stop light and sometimes dies

The problem is a faulty solenoid in the vapor recovery system. The solenoid is sticking open and allowing fumes from expansion of fuel in the fuel tank to enter the air intake and smother the engine. This is how the Mazda service tech explained it to me. It is a known problem on the Mazda 3 in various trims which Mazda refuses to acknowledge. Usually the check engine light comes on and the engine diag code reads mass airflow sensor, which is incorrect. I dealt with this for 6 months on my wife's 2005 Mazda 3i before the dealership figured it out. My cousin bought a 2007 Mazda Speed 3 which developed the same problem after a few months and was cured by the same fix.

2003 Mazda protege had rough idle and wants to stall when I stop.

The idle on my 2003 Mazda Protege started acting strange one day - it kinda surged forward a little bit. Then the RPM would drop and kept wanting to stall out. It stalled out at a stop sign. The check engine light came on. I drove it immediately to my Goodyear mechanic. It ended up being the Idle Air Control Valve. They had to order the part from Mazda which took 3 days to get there. The whole thing cost $700. Runs great now (again).

i had the same code, p2187. check to the left of the throttle body(side facing the front of the veh.
there are 2 vaccum hoses going into the intake. the larger one on top has a spring clip holding it and if you look under that you'll see a smaller one with a check valve. mine was disconnected. plugs in under the larger one.
