Turn signal problem

My left turn signal just started blinking at a very fast rate vs. my right turn signal. However, all bulbs appear to be lighting OK. This is an intermittend problem but is defective more than working properly.

    Dan,

Does that apply even though my right turn signals are behaving quite OK? It is only a left turn signal p;roblem.

Actually, none of the suggestions paid off. So… off to my local Chevy garage where the mechanic found that the previous owner of my truck had somehow jury-rigged the wiring harness and some ground circuit in the harness had come undone. So after spending another $40, my turn signal is working fine now.

Most likely just a failing bulb. Simply replace them and the issue is resolved :)

Strange as this may sound, the flasher for the emergency flashers may be defective. If so, the normal turn signals will behave this way to alert you of the problem.

Yep. Some wehicles are set up to work that way. Also, the rear bulbs have 2 filiments. If one of them fails, the same symptom can ooccur. Some vehicles have a separate part that is called the "flasher". There are 2 or 3 of these in the system. If the blinker one fails, the turn signals will not function completely correctly. If the turn signal one fails, the turn signal will fail only and the emergencey flashers will continue to function. Try the emergency flashers. If they work, start looking at the parts on the left side. (bulb, flasher, socket, wiring).

    Keep us posted.

That's great that it's fixed, but sucks that we couldn't come up with the answer ourselves. I guess "previous owner idiocy" can be really tough to track down, though! :)

Front left turn signal blinking fast

If the front signal is blinking fast then theres a bulb out, check the rear to see if theres a bulb out, use the right side to see how many light are blinking and make sure the same is on the left, the main reason for fast blinking signal is a bulb is out on that side. good luck, have a nice day.

Signal light blinking too fast

I just had that problem with my jeep cherokee and either your bulb has burned out or it is burning out. Time to replace it. Turn the signal light lever on the side that's flashing fast, get out of the vehicle and look at the front and back signal lights and replace the one that isn't blinking...hope this helps.
