My 93 mazda protege dx seems to be getting too much fuel. when it warms up and give it too much throttle it will stall. it does not burn oil, and there is no blown head gasket but when i start it first thing in the morning a whitish-blue smoke is emitted. where should i start my troubleshooting?

If you are getting to much fuel your exhaust would emit black smoke. Pull up to a smog machine 4 gas
Analizer and check tail pipe readings high co2 and hc is rich fuel, high o2 is lean fuel. Then you know what your dealing with. Idle air Ctrl valve could be tour problem also. Check coolant that flows thru throttle body passages get plugs causing lots of idle issues.

Blue smoke is a sure sign of oil bleeding down from your valve seats (little rubber umbrellas inside the head on each valve) into or on top of the pistons after sitting over night..in most cases a good mechanic can do that repair with the cylinder head still on the car...the stalling is usually open close sensor ..TPS (throttle position sensor ) or spark plugs..both inexpensive easy fixes..GOD BLESS

SOURCE: 93 mazda protege clutch repair tips needed

to take out your drive shafts you first need to drain oil from gearbox.plug is on the bottom of box.when this is done remove wheels..take off your disc caliper (2 bolts).tie them up out of way.remove disc rotor(should just slide off).then you need to remove split pins from your steering rack(tierod).. 2 bolts where the part bolts to the strut.next is at base (lower control arm).you will see a bolt and nut(this will be tight to get out use a soft punch like copper or brass shaft to knock bolt out.dont damage thread).to replace this you have to make sure it sits in the right place or you will damage thread when you fit the bolt...when all this is done the hard part comes.the drive shaft is very tight in the gearbox due to a spring type circlip on the axle shaft.you have to wrench the shaft towards you to free it .some times you may have to get a very solid big flat screwdriver in between the gearbox and shaft to loosen past the clip.when it is free ,just slide out.when you have done what you need to do.assembly is just reversing whatyou have just done . to fill gearbox up you have to take out the speedo cable and speedo drive from the gearbox (at back off motor,1 little bolt).top up .you have a mark on the drive to tell you the level.hope this helps (have fun)

There are two bolts on the side of the fuse itself. Under the fuse box on each side. Unbolt those and it will come out.

SOURCE: Ignition lock is stuck (locked) on 92 mazda protege

Please dont think Im talking down to you when I ask this, but did you try turning the steering wheel? If the steering wheel is got tension on it ie against a curb, etc then the key wont turn in the cylinder. If that isnt the case then if you have the inclination you can try taking the steering column apart and replacing the ignition switch, or get it towed to your mechanic...

SOURCE: mazda protege no start

Check all engine grounds, and connections, check to make sure there is good connection at the oil sending unit, also, turn the key on,for a 1.5 second, and then off for about the same time,do this about 10 times to prime the fuel lines, and injectors also.Check connectors at cam sensor, and crank sensor, and make sure there is nothing sticking to the cam sensor on the inside, bits of metal or anything.

Son has a mazda protege dx runs rough when cold, backfires through intake, gasoline in oil, thinking idle air, but could it be injectors?

Gas in the oil can only get there threw the injector/s. One is stuck open. replace them all if it is worth the car. Back firing, I would check compression on the cylinders first, add a little oil first to all cylinders first, one or more cylinders are dry from the fuel, before putting any more money into it. Back firing threw the throttle body, could be timing or burnt valves.

Cars stalls when A/C on only, radio went dead...

There is a lot of reasons for stalling but start with trying to find any vaccum leaks. Then cleen the throttle plates and if you know what the idle speed control is cleen that too. Also if it has a mass air flow sensor cleen that but be careful don't brake any of the fine wires. Thats a good starting point that the only thing it cost is a can of carb cleen or throttle plates cleener.

How do you set up the idle on a '93 Mazda Protege? It was easy to do on the old carburater cars.

Idles are preset ,and not adjustable on fuel injection, but look where the throttle cable attaches to the throttle, and where the throttle sets, there might be a screw with a lock nut,and will allow some setting, but not much, cause the throttle position sensor does this threw the computer. The throttle position sensor is on the throttle,on the opposite side of where the throttle cables attach. If this was helpful, then please rate, thank you.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Mazda Protege 2.0 LX?

A 2001 Mazda Protege (actually, all models from 1999-2003 including the DX, LX, ES, Mazdaspeed, and Protege 5) does not have an inline fuel filter. The only fuel filter it has is a "strainer" or a "screen", which looks like a nylon mesh "sock". This strainer is connected to the fuel pump, located in the gas tank. Although this fuel strainer does not require periodic replacement, it is recommended that it be changed if you are replacing the fuel pump.
