Question about Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

First the problem; The 4way and turn signals sometimes work properly, but then they flash at such a fast rate one can hardly tell they're even flashing. From my experience in relays it seems to me that the flasher relay is bad as it is not getting the proper shot of dc to make it work properly. If this is the case I need to know how to change it. I know it's only a 2 prong plug in relay. How does one get to it to change it. I also am aware that one of the light bulbs may be bad ,but would this cause the rapid flashing to occur most all the time. When the flashers and the turn signals work they work correctly. One can hear the flasher relay vibrate at that high speed when they don't. pictures would be a help too. thanks 4 ur help.

Go to the dealer and ask if the recall is open. It involves replacement of the swithch (the part you push). Quick and easy. The flasher location it is right behind the hazard button on the dash. You can get to it by removing the shroud surrounding the speed gauge.

The flasher on a 2002 Alero is all part of the hazard switch up on the
dash. I heard about other owners that replaced under GM's special policy for the signal
light problem and I asked them where the flasher was..

    Hope helps.

Drivers side turn signal blinking fast other side normal, bulb change didn't help

Even after bulb change, do all lamps work? Bad ground can be shown by weak or dim bulb sometimes and this can cause fast flashing. All bulbs which flash must be working and of normal brightness which is sometimes hard to tell when they blink really fast.

Most hazards flash brake lights not the turn signals, double check your signal bulbs. Try to get it to flas fast and visually inspect which bulb isn't working. Then replace that bulb

What part needs fixed when my turn signal blinker blinnks very fast and sometimes not at all.If I put pressure on the turn arm it will stop sometimes or clicking my high beams on or off sets it right

Flashing too fast means that at least one exterior bulb isn't working. IF its an intermittent problem, once bulb could not be making connection at times. next time its flashing fast, stop the car and look to see which bulb isn't working. Replace that bulb, clean the socket at the same time

Turn signals not functioning properly

Please check the bulbs. These issues can happen if your bulb is burned out. Crazy if you have a bad bulb on both sides but still need to rule them out.

1997 Dodge Neon left signal lights work great. Right side blinks very fast.

Has the car been in a fender bender ? check for wiring going to the front and rear lights to see if on has rubbed into a ground wire or the body. ( even if there has been no accident.)

2004 buick lasabre, right side turn signal blinking fast.

Check the front turn signal bulbs. This will affect the resistance in the circuit and cause the working light to flash at a much faster rate.

LEFT TURN &4WAYS WORK NO RIGHT TURN SI98 BUICK PARK AVE

The first thing is to replace the flasher, the 4ways and signals use diffrent flashers, after replacing the flasher or changing it with the 4way flasher and see what happens. if this doesnt help then you may have a bad signal switch, a good trick is to turn on the signal and watch it as you move the lever around, pull back a little or lift it more and pull down a little, sometimes the switch contact goes bad and by moving the lever without take signal off will make it flash and if that happens then the signal switch is bad even if the 4ways work this still means a bad switch, the 4ways are wired through diffrent contacts then each signal, good luck.
