My 1993 dodge spirit won't start. ran fine until engine died going down hiway. changed module in distributer. still won't start. getting fire from coil but not from distributer. any tips helpful.

I would think a dist. cap and a rotor button. By what you describe, the fire is getting to the distributor but not going to the plug wires.

2000 corolla flooded and wont start

how high was the flooding, does the car crank, lights come on, are all fuses ok? did any blow? have you changed the air filter?

if it cranks try using WD40 or a water dispersant equivelent on your leads and distributer inside and outside the cap. then take to every electrical connection you can with it. if still no start you will need to start dis assembling the interior to see if water got to the computer.

My car battery kept dying so I purchased a new one and now the car cut off again until I recharge the battery

Check your fuses and the main charging relay in the power distribution box to make sure they aren't blown. Next start checking your wires. Your looking for Corrosion or stiff spots that seem to crackle when you bend the wire indicting a burned spot. Make sure you check the battery terminal cables the same way and make sure there are no bare spots worn through the insulation on the main positive wire going from the battery to the starter. I see this in older cars from a wire rubbing against the motor or frame causing a grounded condition and when that happens it won't charge or start.

93 sunbird se, car stalled out coasted over to side tried to start car, started and died. toed car home. motor is 3.1l vin F tested spark plugs pulled plugs no spark. did scann and only code 12 appears....

a 12 means battery connection issue--ignition module-------distributer cap--------plug wires should be inspected-----------but chec 1st the plug that goes to computer--pullit and clean then reattach-its a common problem

What would the main reason be if my dodge shadow wont start... it doesnt make a click click click noise as if the battery was dead it makes a noise where it wants to turm over but it wont... when i drove...

I posted this response earlier:

You could have a spark plug2.gif wire off or bad plug wires shorting to the head. There could be a shorted cable/wire to your alternator. The easiest way to check for shorts is to disconnect your positive or negative battery cable. Make sure your ignition is off and your doors are closed. Touch the cable you took off to the terminal you took the cable from. If there is a loud bright spark you have a pretty good short. If nothing it may just be your plug wires. If you have not had a tune up in a long time it may just be the plug wires and you need a complete tune up. Alternators that short out internally typically will kill the battery over a short period of time. I hope this helps you out!!

Surburban just died

Check to see if the fuel pump is working. It makes a whirring noise when key is turned to start. If you cannot hear tht noise. it is probably a bad fuel pump. Next check if it has spark. remove a sprk plug and using heavy gloves or bundled rag, connect plug to wire and hold thread of spark plug to ground. If it has spark. It will "spark " a bluish spark. If not, then the problem lies in the coils.or distributer . Check that all the wires are good and that they are inserted into the ditributer cap snug . Check cap for cracks also check the rotor. If cap is humid, spray WD40 into it to dissipate any moisture. Check coils (if equipped without distrbutor) . Have car scanned for free at any auto parts store to get a trouble code.

Car dies or loses power while driving. Changed out, spark plugs, wires, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, distributer cap. Not sure what else to check.

My 1995 died after rain storms and high humidity,my mechanic changed the distribution cap, the wires and ignition and its find now 181,000 and still going strong.
