There is a tank vent filter canister under the back of the car that is plugged. It is a black plastic box bolted up in front of the rear bumper and it needs replaced.

Are you sure it is gas? Most cars will spit out liquid water as a result of the combustion process. If it is gas, get to a competent garage who can do a full analysis.

SOURCE: Spitting gas out

There is a sleeve in the tube that the gas nozzle goes in..Just pull it out a bit and that will let air in around the nozzle when filling up.

2003 kia Sorento gas keeps spitting back out when I try to fuel up

There's usually a flap on the fill tube below the gas cap. Try to put the pump handle past the flap, and slowly pull the pump handle to fill the tank.

GAS SPIT OUT WHEN IM PUTTING IN THE TANK

There's an air return pipe that's supposed to prevent this. Look on the filler neck for a finger sized secondary pipe or hose. Make sure this is not damaged or otherwise blocked.

Spit back can also occur when the tank is nearly empty on hot days. The tank is full of gas vapour and this pressure has to go somewhere. Try adding gas slowly for a couple of seconds, then stopping. The added gas is colder and will cause the vapour to condense, after which you can usually add gas at normal speed.

My kia spectra engine light is flashing and when i start car smoke comes out while spitting out gas out back pipe of my care, what does this mean

Are you very sure its spitting out gas? If smoke is light in color, you have a blown head gasket-coolant level will drop and you can smell the odor of coolant in the air. If you're sure you have unburned fuel spitting out your exhaust, this is extremely dangerous to everyone around you so don't run it and get it to a shop or reply back to me...

When i put gas in my kia it spits it out after about 3 sec of filling. how do i fix?

The breether pipe located on the filling pipe can be blocked, it runs from the tank to the filling pipe . take it off at the top of the pipe and blow it to see if it is open.

i think i can help you with that my sportage has done the same thing to me. but you ethier have air in ur gas tank due to not tighting the cap all the way and driving it on anyhting under than a full tank, and the second thing might be the little metal flap in the to of the tube may be bent or not sealing all the way.
