Hi We have just recently purchased a 1998 BMW M3 Coupe in Dakkar Yellow - it's beautiful. However we have discovered we have a problem with the air con. The climate control unit has the following behavior. Sometimes completely dark, unresponsive. Sometimes comes on as soon as the car is started then about 10 mins later goes blank again, sometimes goes dim & unresponsive after working, or simply goes completely dark. When working the air con is perfect and temperature is spot on. It appears to be a problem with the electric supply to the unit. This didn't happen when we bought the car and we are not sure if it is a coincidence that it has occured since we turned the siren back on on the alarm system as the previous owner had it set to silent. However when we turned the siren back to silent the behaviour of the climate control unit still occurs. Could we have just nudged a loose cable doing this or is it something more sinister and costly???? Many thanks amanda xx

Yeah it has dual climate control, and your solution(FTjoe) that's probably the problem,Not checking the temp settings on both sides..makes me wonder how to mis it 'cause the tempsetting display is digital under/next to the < > buttons, hihihi.
hi amanda this kind of cars have very coming problem with the a/c control head wich is the swtch assembly where you turn the a/c on, i'm almost positive tahn you need a new or used digital display or head control for a/c wich is the same but people call it diferent, before you take it to an auto repair and have them charge you for guessins or trying to find the problem, get another a/c control head and have them replace it, good luck
