Question about 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan

1 Answer

I have a 93 eurovan camper. Two problems. It is overheating regularly. It has been going through oil. quart every fill up. I pulled the engine and replaced the head gasket - it was blown. Thought that was it. No. Now I wonder about valve seals. The overheating - is it related, or could it just be a thermostat?

I would say its the thermostat and it probably needs a good flushing before putting in thermostat. as for the valve seals if they were bad oil would run down valve stems and into piston. this will cause car to smoke from tailpipe, make sure all gaskets are ok! specificly the intake gaskets. have a great day !! valve seals will not cause car to over heat.

What is the volume of oil needed for 4DR5 truck diesel engine? What is the reason of having the temperature high or almost above the normal level?

your best bet is to put in 3 quarts then see if there is anything showing on the dipstick if not add another quart at a time until you see something or it's at the fill level on the dipstick. when I do this I leave the dipstick either out completely or half out so oil doesn't splash up on it while pouring in that was I don't have to wipe it each time. typically from the bottom of the dipstick to the max fill line is one to 1.5 quarts, so don't worry about overfilling if you are checking between each quart. And if you buy 5 quarts and you have an extra, just save it for the next oil change.

I have hyundai sonat dohc 2002 model i want to know how much engine oil i need to fill and my car have heating problem is this engine oil problem

Your owners manual should tell you how much oil the engine holds. A 4 cyl usually takes 4 or 4 1/2 quarts with a new filter.
Are you saying the engine is overheating, or the heater is not working ?

Top engine knock when first start engine. And knocking when 3/4 quart low oil. lht661@juno.com e-mail

It sounds like a weak lifter. When the oil is down 1/2 quart, add 1/2 of dextron ll instead of oil. This will help fill the lifter so it won't collapse again. Also look down the hole when you take of the oil cap and make sure it isn't filled with engine sludge. If you see some, get it cleaned out by a garage.

Well long story very short. I over filled my oil in a 2001 Jeep Grand chero. It happens to burn oil on a regular basis. What will happen?

Generally if it's less than a quart overfull, nothing will happen. Since you are consuming a lot of oil, the level will drop with time.
If more than a quart, remove the oil filter and drain it (may take a couple of times, starting the engine each time to re-fill the filter) or simply drain the oil from the engine into a clean pan and use that oil to re-fill but not as full as before. Having too much oil in the pan can cause the crankshaft to froth up the oil like it's in a blender which causes air to get into the oil (air does not lubricate anything) That, can damage the bearings on the crank.

How much oil do i put in my truck right after i do an oil change auto zone said 3 buckets of oil . but isnt that too much for an ford f250 94-95

The most these trucks take is six and a half U.S. quarts of oil.The safest way to know for sure is to drain all the oil out, remove and install a new oil filter, then install five quarts of your preferred oil.Start the vehicle up and let it run for thirty seconds, then turn it off.Pull the dipstick out and check the level with the engine not running, then top off the oil as necessary.Run it for five minutes to verify that there are no oil leaks, Then Happy Motoring!!! Hope I could help!!!

WHERE DO I PUT THE TRANSMISSION OIL INTO ON THE ACCORD 1996adn what grad of oil please for the engine.what is it when yo get light brown oilly substance in the water container at the side of the rad.

put honda brand transmission fluid in the transmission fluid dipstick hole, if this is a 4cylinder, use 2.5 quarts to fill, if 6, use 3 quarts. if you are getting brown oilly substance in the radiator fluid reservoir, this usually means you have a blown head gasket, are you having overheating problems. try draining and filling your radiator with new fluid.
