Question about 1989 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Some kind of eletrical problem

My 1989 camry LE's back running lights do not come on at all. the two running lights on the sides of the car in the back come on and when i push the breaks all the lights in the back light up. i checked all the bulbs & and the fuses. Also right before this problem the right break light would not light up when i turned the headlights on but worked when the headlights were off. But now it works both ways

Unhook the batt and let it sit for a few mins while the batt is off turn on headlights running lights and press the horn to drain any residual power from the computer, then rehook it , this almost sounds like a bad switch or wire harness

1989 Toyota Camry. No brake lights.

It could be the relay, which is a yellow box located under the carpeting in the trunk on the left side. It is a problem common to your model. Also, check the brake switch's (behind the brake pedal) functionality (12V present with key at ACC or ON and continuity between wires when button engaged).

i hope this helps
