Question about 2002 Mazda 626

Overheating replaced the thermostat it was find and its leaking out the side of the over flow tank.

Sounds like a blown headgasket. when it is cold and you start it squeeze a radiator hose while it is cold and if it is hard(has pressure) then head gasket. also check for white milky antifreeze. CAUTION cooling systems are under pressure and contain boiling hot water. If you are not experienced do not attempt to fool with the radiator /cooling system. blown gasket repair $400-600

Was the cooling fan running while hot if not check fan relay and coolant sensor if it was its two things that could be wrong the head gasket is blown or very rare occasions the water pump impeller is bad

My 1990 ford ranger 4 speed w overdrive keeps overheating. thermostat good waterpump good. when overheating overflow is boiling and bubbling


maybe bad head gasket causing bubbling in over flow tank
if level is going down you might see white smoke from tail pipe,
wet spark plugs or engine oil looking like coffee.

Why does my Grand Cherokee overheat after replacing the radiator?


there are many causes of overheating.

first off is you didnt stated engine option (size)

the engine can make excessive heat too. (late timing)

1: bad thermostat. 190 is ok, but it can be bad, even a new one.

try a quality brand like STANT, not dura . etc.

2: it must hold pressure, bad cap>? 12-15 psi

3: gee, did use 50% AF. it will not run right with out AF antifreeze.

4: bad water pump. running old AF causes the impeller to rust to nothing.

5: thermostat up side down, or bleed hole not up hill (jiggle pin,etc)

6: pressure in the hose , does NOT prove flow. only pressure.

7: air flow to RAD bocked, (at A/C condensor or between)

8: bad fan and related parts, varies by engine option not stated.

9: bad fan controls. same.

10: seem like it overheats even PARKED. right? never moved.

11: if it dont overheat moving fast this is a BIG clue. but nobody wants to take that risk of 10 is true. sure.

12: air in block, did you , ignore the side tank and look in side rad for full of AF 100% by pulling cap cold, over and over, each cold cycle

until dead sure its FULL???????

13: BAD TEMP GUAGE, DID YOU USE AN IR PYYO GUN to prove the thing is really overheating

14: is it boiling over, that is steam or hot water blasting to the expansion side tank???? signs/ got real signs of overheating?



15: passes rad leak down test?

16: passes exhaust leak test to rad test? green/blue checked?

17: steam out tail pipe end hot?

18: pinging, (too hot sighs)

19: OBD2 scan tool shows, 240 and the dash gauge and the pyro gun

all agree its 240"

1992 Jeep Cheroke Limited overheating my upper radiator hose burst yesterday morning. replaced the hose added coolant still overheating. removed the thermostat started it and it is still overheating and...


replace the cap , its allowing the system to over pressurize, also, you could have an air bubble thats moving around in the system, always make sure that you fill the radiator to just cover the radiator fins inside, this allows a place for expansion to happen. what you need to do is BURP your system, leave the cap off and start the vehicle, ( before doing this step,, make sure that you've replaced the thermostat, spring towards the motor , it only works one way!! ) once you see the fluid inside the radiator moving, it means the thermostat has opened, and your fluid level should drop down, slowly add more until the fins are just covered, and wait for it to close and recycle one more time, refill again, that should purge the system of unwanted air,, replace the cap, and fill the over flow tank to the lower level line,, and you should be set

That sounds like water leaking from your over flow tank? Is it coming from the area behind the glove box on the passenger side? If so, open the hood and take a look at the over flow tank. Is there any fluid in it? Is the hose going to the over flow tank healthy and without holes? Has it come unclipped or unfastened from the over flow tank? Has the tank itself cracked? Is your car over heating? You could have problems with your heater core. Is the water that is leaking hot? If your car is not registering as hot or over heating, and water is being sent to the over flow tank (because it is over heating) which is leaking or the hose has failed ect - then I would also suggest checking your thermostat to figure out why it is not registering the vehicle as hot?

Shut car off and remove keys,headlights will go off and come back on and now it's overheating and can't find any leaks


The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line(small hose).The purge line is designed to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank (not the cap) ,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling,pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating.
If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage.
The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side close to the thermostat housing,the blockage may be there.

Overheating


Overheating can be caused by several things including low/no coolant, blocked/broken hose, faulty water pump, stuck thermostat. CHeck the coolant level in the over flow tank and in the radiator itself. If it's low you know you have a leak somewhere. If it's full you know the coolant isn't circulating through the system.

Let the car run until it heats up then feel the upper and lower hoses on the radiator, they should both be hot and firm when the coolant is circulating. If the top is hot and the bottom is cool and pliable then you know the coolant isn't going through. The most common cause of this is a thermostat that isn't opening. Look to make sure the water pump is operating properly, that's what circulates the water through the motor.

If you suspect a leak then you need to find where it's coming from. Check around the head/intake gaskets for signs of leakage as well as around the side tanks on the radiator and all hoses and connections.

Start with the small/obvious things first and progress from there. Good luck.

1994 Honda Civic LX\overheating within 2 mile drive


Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.

Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.

Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.

Stop leak can plug everything.

Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.

Overheating fiat seicento


I hope you have managed to solve the radiator problem by now. Seicento seem to suffer from water flow blockage in the heater blower area. I recommend you check the piper behind the carburator and make sure water is flowing. Normally when these pipes are blocked, water will flow back to the expansion tank and start leaking through its cap. You can also open the small screw on the small pipe coming out from the back panel behind the carburator and see whetehr water flows. Also, if the water is heard grumbling when engine is switched off, it is highly likely that the water is not flowing through the heater unit. Hope this helps.
