Question about 1999 Kia Sportage
Hi, the Kia electric fuel pump gets its power from the main fuse block under the hood. The computer controls the fuel pump relay that is also in the fuse relay center under the hood. When the ignition key is turned to start the engine, the computer recognizes the engine RPM and key position, then activates the main fuel pump relay. The action supplies power to the electric fuel pump located in the fuel tank. The computer is involved so that in the event of an accident or if the engine stalls the fuel pump shuts down to prevent fire.
