Question about 2000 Jaguar S-Type
I have a 2000 jaguar s type that was throwing a p0065 code (air assisted fuel injection code). I could reset code, but every 50 miles, car would back fire, engine light come on, and acceleration was lowered. This happened a minimum of 10 times. I just kept resetting the code. I let the car sit for 6 months, and then took it to a dealer two weeks ago. After putting in a new battery, they said the car started okay, they told me it was a Throttle Body code, and no one but a jag dealer could install it.
They said I also needed a fuel pump relay. Without permission they installed these two items, and said the car ran great....not driving it. Today they took out the Throttle Body and relay, and said now there is no fuel pressure. The fuel pump burnt up. They said that happens. 1) Can a throttle body be cleaned or reflashed first to see if that fixes the problem of the code they say is now there....which has never been there ever before? 2) This still does not solve the P0065 code in which I rought it in for. Are these problems related 3) Not ever seeing this code they say now exsists...can anyone else fix these problems, or could these be error codes for a battery run down? Thank you so much for your time
Fail safe mode is something the vehicle computor will go into when there is a problem with the vehicle it allows u to get off the highway or road safely you need to take vehicle to repair shop or your dealer which ever u prefer
Failsafe engine mode on a 2000 jaguar s type is caused by a stopped up throttle body. Jaguar says not to clean the throttle body since it has a protective coating to help keep deposits from accumulating. You can clean the throttle body as long as you use ONLY throttle body cleaner that states it is safe to use with a protective coating. The butterfly valve in the throttle body will actually stick not allowing air to flow into the manifold causing failsafe engine mode to kick in reducing the amount of power your engine will produce. To solve the issue just clean out your throttle body, it will cost you around $5 dollars and take 1 hour of your time.

Acording to my repair manual this code for a car like yours and an engine size 3.0 means the air assisted injection piping is restricted or disconected or broken, ask your dealer or your mechanic where this valve is located, and have the lines going to it inspected for restriction or cracks or disconected, if everithing ok, then replace the valve, and see waht you get, but i will recomend you to locate a european specialist auto repair, and have your car take to them, also if you did not autorize the dealer for the repairs you should not pay them for, aks them for your money back or have them fix it right, since they are guessing, i used to work for a dealer and there is all kind of technicians from aprentice to experts, and depends who get your car is what you getting, i will try to help you untill your car is fix but you may have to try to reach me at the chat room, here on fixya, or go to the premium assistance and i will do the best to get this straigh, good luck and let me know what happend,
i also will apreciate that you make sure to rank this help after trying what i said,
