Yeah , they can be a pain!
Look at the new unit and note where the mounting tabs and hardware are.
Use that to reference what you must do to remove the old one.

How to remove left headlight.

It may be all one sealed unit. Newer cars have headlight , blinker and parking light all in one housing. If the headlight is out you change the bulb by unscrewing the bulb capsule from the back. If you are trying to replace it because the lens is damaged or cracked, you will have to replace the whole unit.

Drl and headlights not working on my 97 Silverado new switch and multifunction switch and still have nothing???

According to wiring diagrams, a 97 model just has the basic system where the headlight switch provides power. A 1999 model is a newer style where the headlights are powered thru a relay with left and right fuses, and the headlight switch provides the ground circuit.
Which system do you have, and do you have power or ground at the bulbs ?

How to replace headlight glass cover

The car should have a plastic headlight assembly. What you do is replace the whole assembly. Usually has two clips that you pull to release the whole assy.If it has the old style rectangular glass headlamps then there is a chrome rectangular ring with 4 phillips screws 2 above and 2 below. You will need a good long phillips screwdriver and push hard as there will be some rust on the threads that you must break free without stripping out the head of the screws. Be sure to check to see if there is corrosion in the plug for the wiring harness and clean/replace as needed before reinstalling

Headlight went out in 2003 ford escape i have

you have to remove the whole headlight assembly, then pop off the front cover pull the old bulb out and put the new one in. reverse the process to re-install. there is a small plastic tab on the topfront of the headlight assembly, that is what you need to release to get the clear cover off and get inside.

1998 Olds Cutlass Headlight is out

There are two strange fasteners that hold down a faceplate.

After you pull that up, there are two posts, that you pull up on. The assembly slides out.

I believe u have the sealed beam headlight---remove the screws holding the trim ring around the headlight, being careful NOT to touch the adjusting screws that aim the unit. U want to remove the 4 screws that go into the trim piece that fits around the edge of the headlight, make sure u take a good look w/ a light, to make sure u are removing the screws holding the trim piece. Pull the headlight out, unplug it, replace w/ new one and u r good to go.
If u have the newer style headlight (I'm quite sure '87 and above do, not sure of '86), u have to replace the halogen bulb only. 1st thing to know is to be careful handling this type of bulb. Don't touch the new bulb w/ your hands, wear gloves or hold bulb w/ a clean rag. If u touch it oils from your skin will cause it to overheat and burn out prematurely, and it also contains gas in the bulb and is under high pressure, so dropping or scratching the surface can cause old or new bulb to shatter, wear goggles to be safe. Open hood, locate rear of headlight assembly, unplug electrical connector, rotate bulb retaining ring counterclockwise 1/8 turn (as viewed from the rear), and slide it off the bulb base. Pull bulb straight out, don't twist. To install, bulb goes in flat side up, insert into headlight assembly, u may have to turn it slightly to align the locating tabs, when aligned push bulb firmly into place, 'til bulb contacts the mounting flange in the socket, put retaining ring over bulb base against the mounting flange, rotate clockwise. Snap electrical connector in place. good luck! countrycurt0

The whole headlight assembly for the right front light is loose and shaking around on my s40, is there a way to repair it without having to go to the dealership or having to remove anything to fix the...

Old body style or new body style?

New body style...there should be a bar type thing that holds it in place.

Old body style, there are two different styles. One where you can take the headlight out without pulling the bumper cover off, and the other where you need to pull the bumper cover off.

Wiggle the assembly around while looking for any areas where screws seem to be missing.

Changing headlight bulb

HI Yes for my Jeep
I have a 2001 Jeep. There is a long bolt that scews out above the light assy in the frame and then you have to grab both sides of the head light assy and wiggle and pull it out of the little sockets which it sits in. It takes a good pull the first time, put grease on the socket balls before reinstalling.
The newer and older body styles may be different . Cheers Glen
