1986 Ford Bronco
I believe u have the sealed beam headlight---remove the screws holding the trim ring around the headlight, being careful NOT to touch the adjusting screws that aim the unit. U want to remove the 4 screws that go into the trim piece that fits around the edge of the headlight, make sure u take a good look w/ a light, to make sure u are removing the screws holding the trim piece. Pull the headlight out, unplug it, replace w/ new one and u r good to go.
If u have the newer style headlight (I'm quite sure '87 and above do, not sure of '86), u have to replace the halogen bulb only. 1st thing to know is to be careful handling this type of bulb. Don't touch the new bulb w/ your hands, wear gloves or hold bulb w/ a clean rag. If u touch it oils from your skin will cause it to overheat and burn out prematurely, and it also contains gas in the bulb and is under high pressure, so dropping or scratching the surface can cause old or new bulb to shatter, wear goggles to be safe. Open hood, locate rear of headlight assembly, unplug electrical connector, rotate bulb retaining ring counterclockwise 1/8 turn (as viewed from the rear), and slide it off the bulb base. Pull bulb straight out, don't twist. To install, bulb goes in flat side up, insert into headlight assembly, u may have to turn it slightly to align the locating tabs, when aligned push bulb firmly into place, 'til bulb contacts the mounting flange in the socket, put retaining ring over bulb base against the mounting flange, rotate clockwise. Snap electrical connector in place. good luck! countrycurt0
