97 Nissan XE pickup hesitates/lunges upon acceleration.

First, If a dstributor is used, check for carbon tracking iside and corrosion. Replace cap. Then check for arcover from faulty plug wires and ignition components- start it up at night and let the engine warm up outside before the moon rises and look for corona discharge along all spark plug wires, and ignition components. They are not always visible at first and never in daylight, but at night in the dark they can be seen. be mindful of the moving engine components.

If that checks okay, confirm steady fuel flow/pressure, and clean Mass Air Flow Sensor wire- back flush with contact cleaner to clean wire, and lastly replace the Throttle Position sensor. Checking and correcting in this order should correct issue.

1986 nissan truck v6 it has no spark.I was told the coil was replaced a year ago

Welcome to Fixya

Do a test for spark at the plugs. Remove one of the plug wires from a plug and hold it near grounded metal. (If the plug end has a long insulated shroud, you may have to improvise to get ground close enough to the end of the wire.) Have someone crank the engine while you watch for spark. If you get an 1/8" or so of spark, that should be enough to fire.Check the distributor cap inside for signs of cracks or carbon arc tracks. Also, check to see that the little carbon contact for the center terminal is in place; without that you can have spark but it won't get to any plug wires. It's rare, but a rotor with an internal short or carbon tracks on the surface can kill the spark before it even gets to the cap.

Thank you for using Fixya!

I have a 97 Nissan Pickup with the 2.4 in line 4 that is a 5spd. It drives fine but when you get up to like 50-55 it acts like it want to "bog out". You can't really get it past that. I was...

Does the check engine light come on? If not you could possibly need a good tune up including plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, cap and rotor and plugs.

I replaced the wires, plugs, rotor and cap on my 91 nissan 4 cylinder. It ran great for the 1st day. Now it misses on 1 cylinder all the time and 2 cylinders once in awhile. Any ideas? This truck has 58000...

Sounds like you could have possibly crossed the wires and may noot have reconnected them correctly. I am unsure of the order but If you get a chiltons book it will tell you. You may even be able to call or go into a local auto parts store and they can advise you or you can look in the book while there and find out.
