It could be something as simple as a very loose spark plug cap. When you pull the plug wire off, does it take some pressure or does it more so slide off?

Was this engine apart?
If so, could be valve lash adjustment. too tight will cause predetonation, however a bad head gasket can be a culprit also. Do a compression check on both cylinders to determine. If your loosing coolant, good bet it's a head gasket. However, a cracked dizzy or carboned up cap can cause it also. I will tell you it's not a timing issue.

If its a Chevy 350 it could be .035 or .045 inch depending on the model. The auto parts store should be able to tell you if the sticker is missing from the engine compartment.

I need to know the order from front to back,left side and right cylinders on a 5.7 -350 chevy vortec engine.

the cylinders on the drivers side from front to back are 1 3 5 7 and the passenger side are 2 4 6 8 they will always be this way on chevys from the early years to now.if you have a six cylinder you just remove the last two 7 and 8.hope this helps you.remember odds on the left evens on the right.

Change plugs and wire and engine will not acclerate. This is a built 350 short block chevy with pro charger.

350 Chevy engine in what? 1990 Corvette? Who built it, did you?

Sounds as though you have plug wires wrong.
Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Distributor Ignition System:
Distributor rotates Clockwise. (Rotor)
Find Number 1 tower on distributor cap, go Clockwise with Firing Order.

Distributorless Ignition System:
VIEWING the engine from the Front of the car.

Spark plug wire connections along the back, starting from Left side going to Right side;

Spark plug wire connection towards the Front of the engine;

(To guess I would say you have 5 and 7 wires switched)

Left side cylinder order is 1-3-5-7, going from front to back.
Drivers side is Left side.
Right side cylinder order is 2-4-6-8, going from front to back.

I have a 1999 chevy suburban k1500 with the 5.7 engine i am having a misfire on cylinder#1,#3,#5,#7 had motor over hauled 13 thousand miles ago and took it back to engine builder he said nothing wrong with...

this has a whats called spider injector .if it goes bad like say leak into the intake it will cause these misfires if you have a scanner look at the o2 voltage output on bank 1 if it reads .350 or less and the other side is reading up and down from .250to .850 than suspect a bad spider injecter.
