I have a 92 ranger with a 2.9 engine. bogged down on me. replaced fuel filter. could not get to start. checked fuel pressure, in spec.replaced fuel pressure regulator. pulled intake and checked injectors, all ohm'd in spec and sprayed fuel while cranking.checked timing chain and gears. looked good. pulled valve covers and watched valves to check cam. all good. replaced plugs, wires, coil, cap and rotor before all this other work. checked distributor location with #1 tdc. replaced distributor. still doing nothing but cranking over. will run on starting fluid, but sprayed a mist of gas into intake and nothing. any suggestions. thanks.

It will run on a either spray without a spark but not not petrol ,now without my greasy hands under the bonnet i would ask you as you obviously can do a bit yourself to check for a spark before you go any further ,pull the centre lead out of the distributor cap and then crank engine and see if you get a spark ,the nice fat juicy blue one ,if a weak yellow spark then a least you know what your up against either a weak coil or a crank sensor or what i would go for and thats the ignition module first. Now if it was the mass iair flow then i would expect it to run but not rev up ,if it was the flow meter valve on the throttle body then i would have expected it to run with petrol sprayed into intake like you have done but to only run on either leads me to suspect the strength of the spark .Anyway dinner is served and dearly beloved is shouting *'¡?? so i had better go ,best of british with it

I have a 97 jep cherokee country 4.0 and can't find the fuel filter...my jeep acts like it's not getting.gas and wants to put? when im going 60 or so and i changed the fuel pump but its still doing it

if you follow the fuel rail gas line, it goes to the filter.
for sure.
4.0L 97 , we have the FSM to see all that , ive posted it 100s of times here. that link.
please explain the bog more clearly.
cold or hot engine or both.?
is it just tip-in throttle bogging , only then POWER catches, up?
while bogging can you go to WOT and see if it has full power now?
ever get a full 60k mile tune up with new spark parts. and filters.
is engine misfiring.
is engine idle too low rpm or too high with a hot engine?
is fuel old.
did car sit for long time ? unused?

"not getting gas" can be 2 things, bogging or misfiring
they are night and day different, one is like pulling a dead weight
the misfire is violent engine shaking,
see?
and 2 different diagnostic paths due to that ...

if wot is ok, then that implies fuel pressure is good. and filter.
see?

WOT = WIDE OPEN THROTTLE.
i drove a 99 XJ for 300k miles. and know it well..

see that page? page 14 in PDF
if you changed the pump, you had it in your hand.
unknowing
its on top of the fuel tank pump RACK.

if engine is tuned up,?
and power is low at wot,
i check fuel pressure live.(under varying engine loads)
if the pressure is out of spec, i get a new filter and PPR.
if pressures are in spec. dynamically.
i find out why the PCM is under-injecting.
ask how. its not hard.
(bad MAP?, , injector balance tests?)

Please help 99 ford au starts and when you put foot down it just bogs down thanks

I would check all the vacuum lines first, fix as needed or replace the all. Check fuel pressure and just replace the fuel filter. Check the air filter also. When you do this and the fuel pressure is good. Start looking for another vehicle. Yours is on it's death bed. If the vehicle is in excellent shape, replace the engine.

I have a 92 ford econo van 1/2 with a straight 6 in it. the engine idles fine but if I put it in gear to take off it bogs down or dies. what am I missing? help anyone?

check fuel pressure if low probably [one of the most common problems] need fuel filter -others need tune up -egr valve carboning up [clogging]-- carb needs adjustment/cleaning-air filter clogging -feel and listen to exhaust if sounds like starving or little air coming thru possible cat clogging

93 jeep cherokee-while cruising down interstate jeep sudenly started jerking, stalling, and lose of power. I pulled over to station. checked oil level, pressure, temp, alt output--all ok. jeep will start...

I don't know engine size? The fuel pressures I found was 31--39 psi, 92--95. I would use a gage and check proper fuel pressure.
How long since over-all tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?

92 Ford F150 4.9L. starts good, idles rough, dies at slow speeds

4.9 litre ?? you having a laugh its a 10ton truck engine not a pick up -global warming machine, remove the pump/sender unit and check the gauze filter also look inside tank for a something floating around ,i think the idles is not a related problem to the vehicle losing power but their is a possibility you could have a problem with the little vac operated thing on the fuel injector line that allows the fuel through only when the engine is running
