2001 Volks Golf - no power - 2.0 Auto AEG; Vin:WVWBS21J81W078000

Hello,
Totally frustrated by no ones ability to diagnose my problem after spending $600 and none the better.

Simptoms: Car will start and idle but will not drive....once in
gear...the car basically dies.....pressing the gas pedal causes the car to go nowhere....once done...car barely idles. If i feather the gas...rapidly...gradually increasing the throttle...i can get the RPM's up to 5,000 but if you put in gear ...the car dies. email: wemallette@earthlink.net
Replaced: Coil;MAF Sensor;Plug wires;Plugs. Bill

Hello

The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

I need a new heater core for my 2001 Saturn L300. Any idea where I can purchase this part or waht the part # might be?

Hello: You can save money by checking at Auto Zone, Advance Auto, or O'Riely Auto parts, they have catalogs to tell them the correct part. You might take the VIN with you in case they need it. VIN is vehicle identification number located at bottom of windshield on top of dash in corner on drivers side.

How do i replace the headlight (drivers side) on my 2000 Volks Golf 1.4.

If you are just replacing the headlight bulb, here's a step-by-step with photos:

If you are replacing the entire headlight assembly click here instead:

Even though this one is for a Jetta, the Golf is similary enough - I replaced my wife's headlights in her Golf using this exact same tutorial.

Good luck, and if this helped, please rate my answer!

NEED TO REPLACE THERMOSTAT IS IT LOCATED ON TOP ON THE MANIFOLD AND WHERE CAN i FIND THE ENGINE SIZE OR LITERS ETC. I CANT FIND A LABEL

The engine code is located on the engine block (different locations depending on the engine). It is a 3 letter code followed by six digits. You may also find the code in the service manual of the car.
AWD, AWW and AWP are 1.8L gas
ALH is a 1.9L turbo diesel
BEW is a 1.9L turbo diesel (PD)
AEG, AVH, AZG, BBW, BEV are 2.0L gas
AFP, BDF are 2.8L gas

Engine designation is also found in the VIN. It is the 5th digit in the VIN. Go to BentleyPublishers.com for more details on what it means for your car as it varies by year and model.

This one is for a 2.0L 4cyl 8V application found at most popular VW internet stores. Very simple to install although requiring some mechanical ability to tackle this work.

Turbo lags, or wont engage smoothly.

the golf is renowned for a 1/2 sec lag in the turbo (except for the diesel which is quicker and more powerful all round,2 secs faster from 30 to 60.)you could chip the car (volks tuning) and make it much better...if you had a clutch problem, the engine will spin, wheels would be stationary.....
