What does it mean?

    Idid replace the baterie, it was fine. The car has been sitting for several weeks. Will it need to reset.

Hello,

This means you do need to take your car into your dealer for some maintenance that is quite critical depending on your mileage.

If you have recently changed the battery or had the battery disconnected you may need to reset your onboard computer and this is usually only done at an authorized Mitsubishi shop such as your dealer. It requires a password or code from a computer assisted device connected to the jack in your engine compartment.

    A: It really depends what code is stored and what caused it. In worst cases driving with "Check engine" light may cause more damage to the vehicle. A car may even stall while driving. If your check engine light came on, I'd certainly recommend to visit your dealer or a mechanic as soon as possible, just to be on a safe side. If the Check Engine light is flashing, this means that the engine computer (ECM) has detected that your engine is misfiring, which could damage your catalytic converter. Have the your vehicle inspected as soon as possible.

If the Service Engine Soon indicator light stays lit after you've started the engine, the On Board Diagnostics system (OBD) has detected a malfunction of the vehicle emissions control system. Contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible.
If indicator light is blinking, an engine misfire may be occurring, which could damage your catalytic converter. Drive in a moderate fashion (avoid heavy acceleration and deceleration), and have your vehicle serviced immediately.*

Have the car scanned for the code's origin. This could mean that the engine will not work as well as it should, and could cause driveability isues.

A constant service engine soon light means that a hard code exists. A flashing light means that an intermittent code exists, but it could become a hard code very quickly.

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. What does it mean when the anti brake light, service engine soon, and traction off light comes on at the same time?
I am assuming its not the service engine soon light it is probably the service vehicle soon light, There are 2 lights service vehicle soon upper left side, and service engine soon upper right side.

When all these come on at the same time it is the wheel bearing sensor. Usually the wheel bearing needs to be replaced which houses the sensor. A sure way to check is to press your sls button by your shifter and see if the light goes out, If it does not, u will need to have a wheel bearing put in.

this light means that a fault has occured in the electronic engine and/or emission control system, any time this light is turned on there is a trouble code set into the memory of the Powertrain control module, PCM for short, there are over 200 poss problems that turn this light on.

This means it's time for a service..But have it diagnosed with a computer and maybe sometimes resetting it solves this problem.If the light comes back again then you need a servicing of the engine.
