1995 eagle talon

I have an 1995 eagle talon esi non turbo, i have had a problem for seven years that i would like to fix and that is when the car idles it idles very rough and when i turn the AC on it gets a bit worse, also another problems i just encounter was when i changed the fuel filter and some gaskets and an injector, when i try to turn it on the car it does not turn on as it did before all this was replaced and i also try to push the gas pedal to help it start and it feels like im not pushing the pedal,{ when i push the pedal it helps a bit to turn it on but i did not have to do that before all this was changed} also when im in first gear and accelerate to go to second it feels like it is choking. what could be wrong with my car please help.

Check the fuel pressure regulator, it could be defective. Remove the vacuum line from it and check the fuel pressure both with it on and off. If the pressure changed then you have a stuck fuel injector and I would pull each plug until you find one or more that is really black and that one or those will be the ones with the injectors that need to be replaced.

Also, follow the fuel lines to the intake and look for the return line. That is the one that does not have a fuel filter on it. The one with a fuel filter is the pressure line that goes to the engine. Now, look for the fuel rail that the fuel lines connect to. On one end there will be a diaphram with a vacuum line on it and that is the pressure regulator. Check the fuel pressure with and without the vacuum line on. There should be about a 8 pound increase with the line off. If there is no change or it is out of range replace the regulator. Also check the coolant hosing for any leaks..

Unfortunately, this is the limitation of this forum, in that we cannot actually do any physical testing on the machine. Only an on the spot inspection can actually isolate the problem..

In my honest opinion, its best to have a qualified mechanic take a good look and diagnose the problem.

Hope that helps!

Hi This sounds like the old oxygen sensor problem. and............ computer has not been reset after changing the injector.

Unplug the computer completely for 24 hours which will reset the prom. This should normally be enough. If it does it still after the reset your oxygen sensor needs to be replaced.

oxegen sensor sends value to computer which in turn recalculates the amout of gas to distrubute for the best possible mixture. If sensor is busted this mixture will be way off and running will be rough

Depending on what gaskets you changed, it sounds like a major vacuum leak somewhere.

You can try spraying staring fluid lightly around where you replaced the gaskets, and see id the idle goes up. That will indicate a vacuum leak.

What gaskets were changed?

Hi califemale,

with respect to other experts:

you need to increase the idle for your car. im no expert on this but i could be of some assistance. if your car has idler, just increase it so that the shaking, will stop. changing to a fresh battery would also increase the idle. have you tried that?

here is a link to a forum which actually talks about the 1995 eagle talon idle problem.

please feel free to post anything on your mind.

thanks for using fixya.

then you may have to change the idler for that. that is the only trhing that makes your car choke.

SOURCE: 1995 eagle talon esi none turbo

sounds like you may have an injector seal leak or an air leak at the filter check all fittings the rough idle is not abnormal with the air but a tune up will help also there is an air control solenoid if you left it unhooked broke a wire to it it will not start with the pedal being pushed and will idle lower than normal and very rough when air is on that is what i would at first..

I have a 1995 eagle talon Esi that needs a alternator and i was going to see if there is a interchangeable one of it its a non turbo

Sure.
The way I do this is to look on e-bay and type in the part you want to buy, and then look down the list of those that are for sale.
They will list all the interchangeables, like what different years and models, and even what different cars that they will fit.
Be blessed.

Sounds like your Hydraulic Timing Belt Tensioner, or could be the Idle Pullys. There's a kit available that includes all needed parts for around $150.00 depending on your location.

did you get the codes by doing the "key dance"(on,off,on,off,on) ?

if so, it almost always flashes a 12 and 55. here is what they mean.

12 - direct power input to the PCM has been disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles

55 - End of error messages
