Cooling fans working? If you notice the air getting warm mostly while stopped, probaby cooling fans not turning on. if the fans are working properly, may be low on freon and need a recharge.
replace the heating core but change the antifreeze first and clean the system and make sure there's no stop leak in the hoses. you will need to flush the heater core out completely several times to know for sure.
1st check the coolant level. If it's low, what you describe will happen. If level is ok, let me know, and include info on engine temp gauge--how long to warm up, is gauge at warm up low temp range, normal, or hot?
Ok Curtis... There may be a problem with the relay switch on this Sebring also check if the heater core is all the way open there should be a valve on the inline under the hood.
YOU HAVE A FAULTY HEATER RESISTOR..LOCATED IN PASS SIDE OF HEATER BOX..YOU MUST REMOVE A COVER FROM BOTTOM OF DASH..THERE WILL BE 5 WIRE CONNECTOR AND 2 SCREWS HOLDING IT INTO HEATER BOX..GET A NEW ONE FROM YOUR LOCAL DEALER..FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE AS WELL..YOU MAY NEED TO ENLARGE OPENING IN HEATER BOX IF YOUR RESISTOR IS ORIGINAL..YOU CAN USE AN UTILITY KNIFE TO DO THIS..FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES
Your heater core could be blocked. The easiest way to find out is pull it and see if there is anything in it. If not have your cooling system completely flushed out. also make sure none of the heater core hoses are being crimped.
sounds like you need to either...add anti-freeze solution to your radiator...or worse case...coolant pump is starting to fail or heater coil is clogged..if coil is suspected to be clogged....do a radiator flush...reverse and foward flush the coil only...hope this helps
