Maybe you can help with this one:

The IAT and MAF sensors wires are in the same plug on top of the air cleanner. Can you tell which wires pertain to the IAT? What color codes?

Hi

I don't know what the wiring colours are in Puerto Rico, but if one of the wires is red then that is the input, and if there is a yellow wire with a green stripe then that is the IAT output.

code p 0113 refers to intake air temperature (IAT) sensor --circuit malfunction===causes wiring open circuit / short to positive ---wiring short to ground ---ground wire defective --IAT sensor---ECM
the MAF ( mass air flow) sensor has nothing to do with the fault

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor are combined into a single assembly which is called Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. This MAF sensor is located on the air filter box near air filter hose, and is connected with a five wire connector. You cannot replace the IAT sensor alone. Instead a MAF sensor is replaced altogether.

IAT, is the air temp.
this sensor varies by what engine you car has. (and country)

you could just log i to alldata.com and look, its all there.
3.5 L V6 this engine? is common in USA>

and this 3.5L has a MAF, Air flow meter near air cleaner.
and guess what , the IAT is inside the MAF !!
why not post the why so we can help,

For a 2005 GMC yukon 5.3L what are the wire colors that control the IAT sensor There should only be 2 wires controlling it but there are 5 on the connection as it controls the MAF and IAT with the sa


The intake air temp sensor is part of the MAF sensor so yes there are 5 wires.
The two wires that go to the air temp sensor are tan and black. The other three are for the MAF.

I swapped out the plug wires and plugs with Denso, while I had the covers off decided to wash engine, engine ran fine. Next day started engine and the idle constantly oscillated between 1200 to 1400 RPM....


You are right this is a classic MAF problem or rather the air mass meter AMM which is the MAF working with the closely associated intake air temperature sensor IAT(a little bead like thermistor on wire sitting close to the MAFF in the air stream). The ECU was getting poor information from the MAF. The ECU had to rely on slow input signals from the IAT and feedback from the oxygen sensor on the exhaust to keep the engine running. The ECU hunted for the right mix, first rich and then lean but never settling hence the 'surge and slow' of the engine revs. When you disconnected the MAF you also disconnected the IAT and now the ECU had just the one signal from the oxygen sensor to depend on and so now provides a slightly rich mix giving the rough idle. You have done the hard work just change the MAF and IAT assembly.

P0102 OBD-II Trouble Code - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input

What does that mean?
Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. A more technical description would be that the MAF circuit had lower than expected voltage (air flow). Other MAF sensor circuit DTC trouble codes are P0100, P0101, P0103, and P0104.

Symptoms
You will likely not notice any serious drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a general decrease in power or sluggishness.

Causes
A code P0102 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad
* The MAF may be dirty or otherwise contaminated (Note: if you use a reusable oiled air filter, be careful not to apply too much oil or that can contaminate the MAF).
* The MAF sensor may be faulty
* The vehicle computer may be faulty (very rare)

Possible Solutions
The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. Then start with the cheapest, easiest repair procedures:
* Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
* Inspect for any air leaks near the MAF sensor.
* Take the MAF out and clean it using a spray cleaner such as brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor.
* Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information)
* Replace the MAF sensor.


P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

What does that mean?
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine. The PCM supplies a 5 volt reference voltage to the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. The IAT is a thermistor that varies resistance based on temperature. As the temperature increases, resistance decreases. Low temperature results in a high signal voltage. When the PCM sees a signal voltage higher than 5 volts, it sets this P0113 check engine light code.

Potential Symptoms
There will likely be no symptoms other than illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL - Check Engine Light / Service Engine Soon).

Causes
A code P0113 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Internally failed IAT sensor
* Faulty connection at IAT sensor
* Open in IAT ground circuit or signal circuit
* Short to voltage in IAT signal circuit or reference circuit
* IAT harness and/or wiring routed too close to high-voltage wiring (e.g. alternator, spark plug cables, etc.)
* Faulty PCM (less likely but not impossible)

Possible Solutions
First, if you have access to a scan tool, is there an IAT reading? If the IAT reading is logical then the problem is likely intermittent. If the reading is less than -30 degrees, unplug the connector. Install a jumper wire between the harness connector signal and ground circuits. The IAT temperature reading on the scan tool should be maxed out at the high end. For example it should be 280 degrees Farenheit or higher. If it is, the wiring is okay, and it may have been the connection. If it isn't install the jumper wire between the IAT signal circuit and the chassis ground. If now the IAT reading on the scan tool is maxed out then check for an open in the IAT ground circuit. If you get no reading at all on the scan tool, it's likely that the sensor signal is open or the 5 volt reference is missing. Check using a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) for a 5 volt reference. If it's there, then unplug the connector at the PCM and check for continuity on the IAT signal circuit between the PCM connector and the IAT connector.

I need to know which wires from my air box plug are the IAT (Intake Temperature Sensor) and which are the MAF (Mass Air Flow) wires.


sorry i do not know the colours off the top of my head, but the IAT it the small 2 wire sensor about halfway up the air duct, and the MAF is the large multi wire connector close to the air filter box. good luck!

it's the sensor on the intake air duct come out of your air filter. the iat sensor is integrated with the maf sensor

There are 5 wires in my MAF plug. I need to disconect two of the IAT wires to add a performance chip. I just don't know which two those wires are.


get a diagram from dealer for the iat not mass air and just hook it up to iat. maf are to exspensive to mess with . tell the dealer you need to replace your iat and need a diagram they will give it to you. that's your wires
