Fans are working great fluid its fine Do you think it could be the water pump??? But i still have heat But it does go sometimes?

Chec for radiator being clogged try some rad. flush drain and refill rad. and run car

I agree with your logic. Attached vid addresses bleeding. Sounds like at low rpms, not enough flow to transfer the heat. So bubble or maybe a partially obstructed core. There are a couple of vids on clearing a core... GOod luck, let us know if you figure it out.

does your cooling fans are electric? if so check the cooling fans switch, also check whether it needs good bleeding,

Could be thermostat is not opining or water pump is failing. I would start by replacing thermostat if that doesn't help then Replace the heat sensor that tells u temp and when fans should kick on. If Ur still having problems I would replace the water pump. But I highly doubt that it's the water pump. It's either thermostat or sensor.

It is possible that the pump failed because of an overheating problem. Make sure the fans run by turning on the air conditioning. They should operate as soon as it is turned on. Bad fans are a common problem. The pump should not have been leaking after replacement though. Make sure you have no leaks first and foremost. Then make sure the fans work. There is also a fan control module located in the area under the battery, but it is difficult to properly diagnose. If the fans do not turn on with the a/c, you can jump the wires at the thermo switch. One should be power, and when you jump to one wire they should go to low speed, the other high.

The only next logical step is to have the radiator flushed and cleaned. Over time the radiator slowly builds up deposits along the fins and reduces water flow and heat dissapation. Sometimes Iv'e seen radiators get so full of deposits that only half the radiator is actually working. I have also seen this motor in other GM applications have computer problems and the cooling fans won't run when they should, but when this happens you start to see other funny stuff happening that gets hard to explain till a bad cumputer gets diagnosed. I assume everything else on the engine and car is working fine and your not noticing any other strange behavior from the engine, like hard to start sometimes and other times it starts fine, air conditioning fans work and then they quite and then work again for no apperent reason. If these type things are happening you might want to make sure your computer is working fine, and all the relays are working. Also make sure you do not have any abstructions in front of the radiator blocking air flow. there is also a sensor on top of the plennum that tells the fans to kick on, check this also.

Running hot coolent is fine...


check for a blown head gasket it will sometimes pump air into the heads and make the coolant levels seem fine but in truth they are not and check the water pump for rusted fins make shure the water level sucks down during sharp throtteling of the motor if so the cooling system is fine as far as that goes but where to start

1.) tempature switch located on the motor it tells the ecu when to kick on the cooling fan

2.) fans spin freely without taking force

3.) thermostat it could be stuck closed due to someone at sometime only running water without antifreez and causing the pressure pin to rust and freeze the gate shut

4.) monitor the water levels if they go down suddenly as 1 gallon of water a week or 2 weeks its a bad head gasket you can see this on spark plugs as well

and for most your water pump make shure you get good heat from the heater at low running tempatures and start the car and monitor what the water in the radiator does (while its cold) the water in a car is over 195% and can easily do harm if the car is just warmed up not even close to over heating so you can imagine what it could do at an over heated state



but get the problem fixed or else you can result in blown head gaskets water in the oil piston breakdown do to rust in the piston walls and even worse complete engine failure

are you sure its the water pump?Its located and the passenger side mid lower on the belt.One thing them cars were noted for was blown head gaskets.If you don't see any possible leaking and you smell it look at the exhaust pipe while its getting hot and you'll see with smoke come out or a lot of moisture coming out of the exhaust or a lot of dripping.Also if your radiator fans are not working and it heats up more just idling or short drives that will make it over heat and coolant to flow out of the radiator cap or over flow.I hope these things help you in locating the problem.Have a great day...
