Question about 2003 GMC Envoy

Loss of power

Severe power loss, especially when a.c. is on. Noticably better with a.c. off, but still there. Dirty fuel injectors maybe? Also, ticking noise at idle, sounds like it's from the fan - maybe

Good day Scott, I need your expert advise. I have a 2003 ENVOY with loss of power or poor acceleration problem. The workshop cannot find a fault so they took from a known good ENVOY a pedal position sensor, air flow meter and a fuel pump and install it on the subject vehicle but the it does not resolve the concern. We also installed a new PCM/ECM and it did not improve. The VIN is 1GKDT135132394553. Loss of power/poor acceleration is experienced even with the A/C off and from stand point and transmission in neutral the engine labors to reach 3,000 rpm with accelerator pedal down to the floor. Would appreciate your technical assistance Thank you.

This problem sounds similar to mine. Loud engine and poor acceleration. The shop says nothing is wrong, yet I know there is a severe difference in acceleration from 2 days ago. It almost sounds like a jet engine on take off - too bad the power to move is not there anymore.
We replaced the fuel pump (?) less than 1 year ago.

My loss of poweer problem was finally solved by diagnosing & replacing the camshaft actuator selenoid valve. Fairly easy job, takes about an hour or so. Part was $94 from GM.

For the person with the loud engine and poor acceleration, the problem is likely the fan clutch. I think it is about 800$ to be repaired.

Code po172(loss of power) on 2002 pontiac sunfirer

Possible causes
- Faulty front heated oxygen sensor
- Ignition misfiring
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Exhaust gas leaks
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
My bet would be dirty fuel injectors, Try putting fuel injector cleaner in your tank next time you fill up.

Loss of power at low speeds, car doesn't stall but will have my foot to the floor and car won't rev up. Once I come to a complete stop car will work fine again. Recently had my catalytic converter replaced...

Yes, many things. First do you have any trouble codes? Loss of power at any speed almost always pertains to air (vacuum) either leaking or blocked. That's an inexpensive place to start. Test all intake vacuum including egr and pcv with a inexpensive vacuum gauge.
Other possible things to look at is dirty fuel injectors or a small stone in the fuel line between the filter and the injector but these possibilities are more labor intensive and not as common.

Just started missing all of a sudden loss of power

Sounds like dirty injectors, At next fill up add a fuel injector cleaner and fill up with highest octane fuel. Miss and power should correct within half a tank.

1991 Honda Civic 1500 idles irregularly, with check engine light.

I think I would suspect the fuel injectors, especially since that is the code you are getting. Fuel injectors clog up, get dirty, stop working the way they should. They can be cleaned (you can remove them and send them to a company that cleans them and makes them like new, or, they can be cleaned in the car by some garages, or, you can get a can of Sea Foam spray and spray it into your throttle housing several times to try to do some cleaning that way, or, you can dump a can of Sea Foam (non-spray) into your gas tank and run it with the fuel through your injectors). You should probably check when you first start the car to see if you are getting any leakage from one or another injector (one or another may look moist or wet if the seals are leaking). You can also do the long screwdriver test (hold the bit of the screwdriver against each injector in turn and listen with your ear against the other end to see if each is clicking regularly). I would try the Sea Foam first.
I hope this is helpful in getting you started on a fix.

2002 2500hd 6.6 duramax diesel is blowing smoke and has loss of power. Is this the injectors or piston rings?

Engine Coolant Loss with No Visible Leaks (Reseal Injector Sleeve)

Some owners may comment on engine coolant loss with no visible leaks. Excessive white smoke or a coolant type odor coming from the exhaust pipe, along with low coolant levels, may indicate coolant in the combustion chamber.
Condition may be caused by engine coolant entering the cylinder due to a dirty or damaged seal between the fuel injector sleeve and the cylinder head.

If it's black smoke, you could have a faulty or dirty EGR valve and may not be closing 100%. Remove the EGR valve and clean it with spraying carb cleaner and reinstall after inspecting the valve can move without any binding. Goo luck and hope this helps.
