Question about 2001 Mazda 626

Cam shaft sensor

Where do I find the cam shaft sensor. I had the computer put on my car because the Check Engine light stays illuminated and the diagnostic said #1 cam shaft sensor bad.

I have the new part but, do not know where to look to install it. It looks like a simple install, just need location. Thanks,

Laura

My ck engine light comes on continuously. I recently had my timing belt and sensor(bank 1) replaced. Every time I take it back to get it checked out, it always reads the same code (P0421).What is the problem?

It should be at the rear of the head at the end of the camshaft. some are located at the front of the head. Either one, there is a 2 prong plug that goes to it.

My volvo s80 check eng, light is on and the code is p0011 and (cam shaft postion sensor) the the abs and all other lights keep going on and off every time i start the car i need some help please help

Hi there,

Firstly, when starting the car, ALL warning lights should illuminate briefly - this is a self test to ensure these systems are working ok. When the Engine Check light remains illuminated, then a fault has been detected.

Code P0011 can be triggered by the following issues: Improper camshaft timing, wiring problems, continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber, faulty timing valve solenoid.

Due to the possible causes above, only an authorised Volvo service agent will have the correct scanning/diagnostic tool to identify where the problem lies.

I recommend you have the service agent carry out a further diagnostic...

2001 galant, had cam shaft sensor replaced. Check engine light won't go off. Mechanic ran diagnostics again and said computer is reading a mis-fire in piston 1. Mechanic says there is NO mis-fire...

Ask your mechanic to please verify that he has the cam set in exactly the right position, and that the wires connecting it are still in good shape. The "misfire" could be that the computer is seeing the fuel-air explosion, and thinks it is at the wrong time due to the sensor being off.

Why does my engine check light stay on?

HI. This will require you to have the engine CPU scanned for trouble code's. This can only be administered with the assistance of a diagnostic computer scan tool. You can purchase this tool at your local auto parts store, or you can just have the scan ran at your local auto zone parts store, free of charge. Once the diagnostic scan is administered, you will be able to isolate the issues that have caused the check engine light to illuminate.

This scan tool will display a print out code and the location of the issue, on the engine, as well. There are Many issues that will cause the engine light to illuminate, but the most common cause will be a failed monitoring sensor, or sensor harness failure(separated power wire, or ground).

Once you have the codes, kindly return to the site, and post them here. We will be able to assist with more accuracy, once the codes are posted.

Thanks..

Car is putting at an idle when gas is pressed runs smoothly

sounds like either you have 2 of the wires crossed.........one is loose....probably #1 or your #1 plug needs regapped or is not tight and losing seal....all will cause a misfire and set the check engine light

I have a 01 325 bmw- runs great, however, the service engine light has stayed on continuously. Car was placed on diagnostic computer. I was told that I need cam-shaft exhaust replaced- this is what showed...

I need moe information than just the exhaust cam shaft needs to be replaced, it it's a twin cam I want to know how they determined it was the exhaust cam and not the intake, either can cause fuel mixture to be off to make the check engine light on Unless its is a common problem and a recall on this car. Before I would replace cam I would do a dry and wet compression check to verify that it's the valves. and if the cam needs to be replaced then you need to do both plus the valves. and guide seals as well, even gide seals on the intake could cause faulty reading so if there was no compression test the information is inconclusive more test procedures need to be done before tear down also does it have a rubo? and is it gas or diesel? I need this information to to diagnose properly. Or to narrow it down..
