the side play ( gear clearance) in the diff unit will not affect anything as they only work on changing direction ( turning corners) or in a bog. Unless you have planetary gears in the hubs then what you are feeling will be the axle spline clearance in the side gears in the diff.
There will be a part number stamped into the rear end. The dodge dealer can look it up. Also, if it's the stock rear end, the vin number is all you need to tell the dealer.
