Battery doesn't charge. I have checked the cables from the battery to the alternator. They ohm out ok. The alternator was tested and is good. I have checked the voltage at the alternator and it is the same...

The battery on a Dodge Caravan is subject to the same drainage issues every conventional automobile battery has. If the alternator does not produce enough current to recharge the battery, it will lose its charge over time. If the voltage regulator is not functioning properly it can impair the ability of the battery to stay charged. If the operator leaves the headlights on, or the door open or any number of other accessories that draw electricity from the battery while the engine is not running, the battery will eventually die. Loose battery cables can also keep the alternator from supplying current back to the battery
the votage regalator usally is first to go out. thanks

Well in order to check the alternator you must have a fully charged battery. I would try to charge battery and see if it will take a charge. If not, replace it then test the alternator.

  • Wire the "#1" terminal to the ignition wire from the key switch. This connection is responsible for making sure the alternator only engages when the car is powered on.
  • Wire the "#2" terminal to the positive battery line. This connection will insure the alternator only engages when the proper battery voltage is reached.

After changing alternator and voltage regulator. Still not charging. 2nd $15.00 regulator replacment

Check your battery and check the ground wire from battery. Make sure all your wires are clean and good connections. A bad battery will not charge and a dead battery will not charge a alternator maintains a battery not charge a battery, so charge your battery completely before checking that the alternator is working. Check all the wires going to the starter for good tight and clean connections . Hope this helps...
