How can l fix a brake pedal that is to high up on a 2003 grand cherokee laredo

There is a rubber limit stop above pedal. If missing pedal will be a bit high. Otherwise, brake light switch limits upward travel. No other adjustment is possible without cutting and rewelding pedal which could limit travel, change leverage, and void warranties. Adjust seat instead.

Yes, it needs adjusting so the switch button pops out as soon as brake pedal is pressed just a little.

Brake light switch replacing

the switches are usually on the brake pedal easy job to do bit awkward to get to as you need to be made from rubber lol just a clip and a wire to remove when replacing push the brake pedal in and pull the conecting switch out and it will ajust its self when you let go of the pedal hope this makes sence cheers ivan

Shifting in gear hard at time, 2004 ford taurus, this does not happen all the time

The brake switch for keeping the car from going into gear without pressing on the brake pedal might be going bad.

Renault clio abs light comes on with vibration through brake pedal. discs and pads renewed

How hard are you stepping on the brake pedal? What you are describing sounds like the ABS system activating. When you step on the pedal hard enough to engage the ABS the light will come on, in some cars it will blink. You will also feel the thumping/vibration in the pedal since the system works by repeatedly engaging and disengaging the brakes. If it is happening when you step lightly on the brakes then you may have a bad wheel speed sensor or possibly a bad or miss-adjusted brake switch.

Got my tires rotated and the shop informed me that my brakes had gone bad and needed replacing. Rather than spending 900 dollars I didn't have, i opted to do the work myself. Brakes work now, but...

that sounds just like a leaky none return velve in the master cylinder or very low on brake fluid it may even have got air in the system also if you removed the rear drums and never ajusted up the brake shoes this could give you this problem check the rear brums first the brake shoes should just be tuching the drums if there not pull off the drums and wind up the ajusters then refit the drum till the drake shoes are only just clearing the drum i know they have self ajusting shoes but half the time they just dont work very well so ajust it by hand,, the front brake are disk's and they are self ajusting,,,
after doing this work leave the car for a minue or so and stamp on the brake to pump them out if you then need to pump the brakes up again that shoes its just ajusted the rear drums,,,the brake pedel should only ever need to be prest once never pumped up,, if this dont help you out and sort out the problem then and only then replace the master cylinder as there normaly very strong and dont brake down often and they often leak brake fluid first,,,my bet is its the rear shoes needing ajusting up

Cruise Control

Most at the time its a brake/cruise control swich located above brake pedal. Its might be shorted or pedal not pushing swich back enough for cruise to work.Anyway the swich is ajustable or replaceable.Ajust it so buton goes about 1/2 of its lengt in.
