2007 Toyota Camry Logo

I have a 2007 Toyota camry with push button start. I tried to turn the car on this morning and the radio and gps turned on but the car wouldn't start. The message display says check vsc. I checked my gas cap and it was fine. It's Sunday and the dealers aren't open any ideas?

VSC stands for vehicle stability control. That has nothing to do with the gas cap.

Maybe, the starter or battery is weak or bad. Or, the starter to battery connection at the battery is bad.

Try to disconnect the battery, clean and wire brush the connections, and reinstall the connections to see if the car will start up after that.

Note, that batteries have an average life expectancy of 3 years, typically. I see that your car is 3 years old, so if it had the original battery, it's possible it needs to be tested at a battery retailer to see if it is alright.

Good luck on this repair.

There a two power wires to the radio, one to power the radio (which appears to be working) and a second to keep the programming (which does not appear to be working). Check that all the fuses are good (there is probably one for the memory).

Radio goes out when start engine. Loses all settings.

Your radio might be shorting out. I would make sure the ground wire hasn't come off.

Maintenance required

That is a friendly "get the oil changed light" and a reminder that a 25K service is due. To get rid of the light, push down the "A" trip reset button, turn the car off (while holding the button down), and turn the ignition on but don't start the car - while still holding down the A reset button. You'll see a count up meter on the display that will tell you when the system is reset. Enjoy.
