Can I remove the secondary air injection pump on my 2.0L v.w beetle

Yes, you can simply remove the pump, or if you just wanna shut it up from bouncing and rattling, Id recommend you secure it with something and leave the hoses attached (I recommend zip ties, but some use a coat hangar or some regular copper or steel wire to great success), and then you wont have to worry about stuff vanishing or being forgotten, The clamps for the plastic tubes are part of the tubes, they come together, you can fashion ways to secure the tube if the clamps break (They do often!), but most people replace the tube if a clamp breaks. As far as permanent removal of the pump, remember, it wasn't put there to make more money or find a way to create headaches for owners. It serves a purpose and the car will run correctly only if it remains. In states that have an emission inspection program (About 21 states currently) it will cause a failure of a smog inspection to disconnect or remove an air pump, and your car will not be able to be re-registered or sold unless you get it fixed. Even if your state doesnt have a regular smog inspection program, remember, it is a crime to modify or remove emissions control devices from a vehicle. Thats EVERYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES! Emissions control is a federal law, smog inspections are merely a state enforcement for federal pollution control mandates. Do yourself and the car a favor and fix it properly. The catalyst and oxygen sensor will have longer lives if AIS continues to work, and emissions output on cold starts can be reduced by 80%! Its important!

My 85 nissan pick up wont pass smog cause pollution number is to high. could it be vacuum hose leak?

Where do you live? Some locations (states/provinces, counties/parishes, and cities provide a waiver for vehicles older than 25 years. Check out your area's regulations. You may be able to avoid the emissions test completely. Good luck.

Cat converter dosent work and wont pass smog

You may have to replace the converter. When the converter go bad it generally would transmit black smoke. This would prevent you from passing vehicle smog inspections.

I have a 89 toyota 4x4 pickup ,didnt pass deq, smog,,one mechanic said it has no compression in one cylinder but runs really good,is this expensive to fix,,is this why it doesnt pass smog test

I don't know the laws in your state, but here in Missouri you can get a waiver if the cost of repairs exceeds a certain amount. The amount is different depending on the year. The older the car, the less you are required to spend. You might want to check into that, you have a 20 year old car. I can't imagine you would be required to spend a lot of money on that old a car.

I did not pass smog due to the amount measured for the hc [ppm] test read to high it reads at 711 at 15 mph and 767 at 25 mph what can i do to fix this?

Well, if you didn't pass a state inspection, I can tell you how you may be able to work around it. Depending on state laws for car inspections.....I'll just give you an example: My fiance's car didn't pass inspection, but as long as she paid AT LEAST $200 to try and fix the problem, they HAVE to give her an inspection sticker for the year. We are in NC. Find out the law in your state, if you can't figure out the problem and need an inspection, spend the minimum trying to fix for'll have a year to figure it out.

Brake booster

Emmision is the fumes produced by your exhaust. Do a tune up on the car and have it checked for exhaust leaks. Spark plugs, Wires, oil change if needed, O2 sensor, Air filter and such thing as this should put it back into order. Which state is this? If it is california then you might want a professional opinion because they no more about smog canisters and stuff likethat. But tune up should do it.
