Car starts then shuts off when i use the remote starter, whats the problem?

Is this a new installation? Newer cars that have smart keys need to sense the key inside the ignition switch to start. Installers usually install a spare key inside the steering column so the car can read the smart key code, so a remote can work. has this been done? If you keep trying and it keeps shutting off, you might be locked out!

Hello -

You should be able to obtain duplicate keys for your automobile from a car dealer who sells your make of car.

All you will need in the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) for your car. You can see the VIN through the windshield on the driver's side of the car. It is printed on a metal piece inserted into the dashboard of your car on the driver's side.

The automobile dealer will probably charge you for the replacement keys. Plus, you will need to travel to the auto dealer to pick up the keys, so you may need to take public transportation, taxi cab, or ask a relative or friend to drive you.

Another option: Pay a locksmith to open your car boot so you can retrieve your keys.

Note: After I did the same thing with my car keys at an airport parking lot, so I wasn't even able to get my spare car keys at home, I had a duplicate key for my car boot (which also unlocked the car doors) made and always carry it in the coin purse in my handbag.

Best wishes.

I have a Mercedes E220 CDI, I can not open the boot by the remote control or the internal button and I locked the key inside the boot ... Please help

You need the key to operate the boot from inside the car. Do you have a spare key somewhere? Do you seats fold down? There must be a way to find the wires that activate the boot from the boot switch in the car. Maybe you can apply power directly to those wires to operate the boot?

I opened my car this morning and left the key inside as i went to get water to defrost the ice the door closed by itself as it sometimes does but the lock slammed shut with the keys inside i am now late...

just smash the back window as time os of an essence ,always keep a spare key ,and another trick is to have a key cut with no chip in it as these are expensive then grease it and tape it and wire as well to underside of car so at least car can be opened

Unlock boot without key

No such thing as a universal key. I would remove the rear seat and crawl through to release the trunk latch.

Securetylightison and wont start have fuel/spark trys to run then stops cycle key then start then shuts off admidiatly

your car was build with an anti-theft devise from GM, inside the ignition key is a micro-chip, when you insert the key in the ignition cylinder, the sensor inside the cylinder will measure the resistance of that micro-chip inside the key, if there is a match the engine will start, if no match the computer will think someone is trying to steal your car & shut it off.
try using another ignition key (spare key) if this doesn't work most likely the tiny wire inside the ignition cylinder is broken therefore the ignition cylinder will need to be replaced.

Mercedes-Benz 230clk coupe 1998 with dead battery

I had same problem with my 2002 CLK430. Dead battery with car locked. You can't open doors with the mechanical key (inside remote key), as windows need power to slide down slightly to allow clearance, so you can't access the hood release. The answer is to insert the mechanical key in the key hole for the trunk (boot). It will only go in one way, with the slightly larger grip part down. I found it easiest to turn with a pair of flat nosed pliers. Turn counterclockwise to the left to to the 11 o'clock position. Then push the release in and the trunk will open. Battery is located in the right rear quarter under the flooring panel that also covers spare tire. Hook up charger or jumper cables and power will come back on, as will alarm. To disable, just push the unlock button on the remote key. You should be good to go from here!
