Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Am
My check engine light came on last night. the exhaust smells funny otherwise car runs fine. but the other morning when i started it, the car was dogging out until i shut it off and started it again then it was fine. any suggestions as to what the problem could possibly be?
Check the gas cap. If missing or faulty this problem may occur. If you replace the gas cap you must drive the vehicle for about 50 kms before the computer will reset and turn the light off. Happened to me.

I have a 2002 grand am and less than a year ago had to replace cadalitic converter. The check engine light would come on once in awhile, and the car will start to bogg down. It started out as intermitent then eventually all the time. The smell may be the heating up of the converter.
