Yeah, i have an 06 Mini Cooper with the same problem. It is REALLY appearant when you coast/step on the breaks and reach about 15mph, the car would slow significantly, as if you're stepping on the breaks even when you're not. this can be replicated by using the Steptronic function, and shifting from the 3rd gear to the 2nd gear at around 15 mph - You will feel the car slow down quite a bit. I'm not really sure why it's doing that... gonna take it into the dealer in a few days to try to find out.

When does the problem start? Is it only once the engine has warmed up, or is it there all of the time?

If it is only once the engine has warmed up then if it accelerates ok when you put you foot to the boards, but plays up at light throttle and maybe a little bit at idle, then you cold have a faulty O2 sensor.

If the problem is there all of the time and it misfires just after each gear change then smooths out immediately, the the EGR valve could be the problem.

    Very best regards

It could be a broken engine mount. Some times the rubber bush separates from the steel plate on the mount and although it will still sit on the mount, when driving and changin gear the engine will **** as there is nothing holding it to the chassis at that point. I would check these as a first step then see how you get on.

Try a new set of plugs and an injection flush for the power problem.

Hope this helps
