Question about 2003 Mini Cooper
It could be a broken engine mount. Some times the rubber bush separates from the steel plate on the mount and although it will still sit on the mount, when driving and changin gear the engine will **** as there is nothing holding it to the chassis at that point. I would check these as a first step then see how you get on.
Try a new set of plugs and an injection flush for the power problem.
