Question about Lexus IS

Headlights do not work

I have a problem where headlights will not switch on. if I use high beam they work but with normal operation only parking lights work. Have checked fuses and relays but not sure if there is relay in the circuit. Have you any ideas.

Thanks.

    All these things have been checked and are ok.Someone mentioned to me about ignitor and is a common problem on this model. Are you aware of this? And where is this ignitor located?

    My headlights only work on high beam. I've checked the fuses. They all seem fine.

    I have the 1999 Lexus LX 470 and the Headlights on normal beam do NOT work - only when I go to High Beam ...... seems to be related to the foglamp override as it was explained to me that there is a "dummy" mode that overrides the headlights whenever you have the foglights on - it disables the headlights - somehow it appears my system is STUCK in this mode - whether the fog lights are on or notspan.jajahWrapper { font-size:1em; color:#B11196; text-decoration:underline; } a.jajahLink { color:#000000; text-decoration:none; } span.jajahInLink:hover { background-color:#B11196; }

Sounds like the problem is in your headlight switch, first check your fuses under the dash and under the bonnet also your globes they will still work on high beam and parkers if the globes are blown or if theres a problem in the headlight switch or a blown fuse

Why are my headlights cutting out when i turn my high beams on?

The problem will be due to a malfunctioning headlight dimmer switch and a dimmer switch connector. Also check the high beam connector.

Headlight switch turns on parking lights but not headlights. Have to hold high beam switch on to have headlights at night.

Replace light switch assembly. Remenber some switches pull up to flash headlights and press down to change from low to high--press down again goes from high to low.

01 Mazda MPV ES. Headlights not coming on. Parking lights and high beams work. High beam light shows on panel. Changed headlights but the problem persist.

Interrogate the headlight relay in the engine compartment relay box to ensure the switch is working. If yes, check the relay for proper operation.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check and let me know if you have questions.

Headlights both went out last night. High beams

There is a relay that controls the headlights, volvo calls it a step relay. You will have to check that power is getting to this relay. If not, check all fuses and wiring. If power supply checks out ok, you may have to replace the relay. Let me know if you need any more info or a wiring diagram.

Replace the high beam switch, it is part of the multifunction switch.

The main/high beam relay/switch must be stuck on high presuming the high beam stalk selector does not operate. Probably needs replacement.
