Question about 2007 Ford Focus (3 Door) Hatchback

1 Answer

Rear Suspension In September 2007 , I bought a brand new Ford Focus 4door hatch. Ever since the 1st day the car had creeks and rattles. I took it back and they told me its because the car was new and I should wait for things to settle. Since then I have been back to two different Ford dealers, and neither can find the cause. The suspension still creeks and rattles and is very hard. (Feels like there are no shocks). Can anyone advise on how to solve this problem. Thanks Jo

First try to tie all your bolts in the front end with1/2 drive wrench, then try to bounce your car in the front to pinpoint where is the rattle it could be your strut mount

Mondeo ford wagon car (1997), rear wheels bend

Hi Ajayi:
If you click on this link you will see a diagram of this suspension
http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200701/2007-ford-focus-2_600x0w.jpg
It appears that this is a front wheel drive vehicle with independent rear suspension.
I don't know exactly what you mean by "bend". Perhaps you could give some more information if I have not answered your concern.
Cheers.

Ford focus wiring

same thing happened to us.  My wife came home and said the rear brake lights were stuck on so I assumed it was the brake switch...not so. Took car for a ride and noticed rear wiper did not work and when I hit the brake the rear hatched opened and door locks blew out.  I started by looking at the wires in the gromet above the hatch and found almost all the wires were bare.  Therefore power was jumping  the bare wires and traveling back down the third break light and to the rear brake lights and visa versa.. a very dangerous situation.  The best that I can tell is the wires are so short in length that they pull and chafe every time you open and close the hatch...very poor design...   Note: we bought our vehicle brand new and some of the wires had electrical tape on them....seems mickey moused.

Dome lights stay on after car is started

Check the rear hatch switches, My ford winstar did the same thing. I had ford fix it the 1st time, trouble came back, took panel apart myself, I found 2 switches 1 on each side of the hatch. I Isolated to one, and the other didn't do anything so I switched them around and trouble never came back.

easy walk around see if car is stil straight and push all 4 sifdes bit down fast an watch the dampening effect. optical inspect for broken springsd or oil leakages too. Most quick fit carshops offer free suspension test. shakening and measuring. beware some rip-off joints might conclude all shot and sell you new tyres also

Rear door problem

There are two actuators (long vertical bars) on either side of the hatch. They need to be replaced with new ones as those no longer support the weight of the door.

Good Luck

The handbreak cable May have snapped if the dealership tightened it too much in the pre delivery inspection. They may not have tightened he bolt tight enough causing it to release
